Mulan. Hua Mulan is the fifth heroine to join the live-action line up when the 2020 remake of the 1998 classic, Mulan. She is the first in the line up to not actually be a princess by birth or by marriage.
Mulan and Pocahontas are the only characters in the official Disney princess lineup who are not technically princesses. Mulan does not come from a royal line, and she does not marry a prince. Pocahontas is the daughter of a chief and does not marry in to a royal family.

No, Princess Moana is not black. Moana, who is the titular character in the 2016 Disney animated movie of the same name, is of Polynesian heritage. Tiana is recognized for being Disney's first African American princess. As the film's writers and directors, Clements and Musker claim that their decision to depict Tiana as an African American young woman came naturally simply as a result of the location in which the story takes place.
She is also the first to technically not be a princess, as she is not of royalty nor does she marry into royalty. She is, however, a Chieftain's daughter, which can arguably be the equivalent of a princess.
Other than being human, Alice is not royal and does not perform any prominent acts of heroism throughout the film, but her closeness to the title allows her to often be mistaken for a true Disney Princess.
1937: Snow White
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937, debuting the very first Disney princess with Snow White herself.
They were given an official number in the franchise line-up based on the chronological order in which their films were released, starting with Snow White as the first and original Disney Princess, with Cinderella being the second, followed by Aurora and so on.
Tinker Bell enjoyed only a brief reign as an official princess before abdicating. She's now part of a separate Disney Fairies franchise started in 2005. (Another consolation prize: A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.)
