Calcium hydroxylapatite is biosynthetically produced, which means that no animals or animal products are used. This lowers your risk of an allergic reaction and no skin testing is required. This type of dermal filler is known to produce a very natural result, doesn't migrate and side effects are rare.

"Theoretically, all filler has the ability to migrate," says Dr. Diamond. "That is why it is so imperative that non-surgical injectable services are performed by experts with the anatomical knowledge to prevent this from happening.
In rare cases, facial fillers like Juvederm can migrate to another site of your face within a few days of your injections. This happens when the filler moves before it has fully bonded with your facial tissue.
Migrated lip filler is visibly noticeable and usually presents as lumps, but can also appear as a puffy upper lip, lack of a defined border between lip edge and above and/or below the lip border – think duck lips.
Filler Massage
The product will remain somewhat malleable for about a month after it has been injected. If you think that your filler has migrated to unwanted areas or isn?t as smooth as you? d like, massage is always an option.
Even though the results of filler will be visible right away, migration can happen almost immediately, with a few days or weeks, or even up to years later in rare circumstances, depending on what the root cause of the issue is. “If overfilling is the culprit, it will be noticeable almost immediately,” says Dr. Horn.
If you believe that your filler has migrated, then don't panic, as it can be treated. The beauty of modern-day filler is that it is semi-permanent, so over time your body will naturally break down and metabolise the substance.
"People who have very thin upper lip, or who have an "M"-shaped lip with a very thin cupid's bow are [more] prone to filler migration," says Dr. Durairaj.
9) Fillers under the eyes can migrate to other parts of the face.
Some dermal fillers have been studied to last close to two years. The three fillers that tend to last the longest are Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm, Voluma, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Restylane Defyne is built for balance and used in the nasal labial folds and marionette lines.
While it is possible for fillers to migrate, this side effect is extremely rare and can be avoided by choosing a qualified injector. Though filler migration is very uncommon, its likelihood increases when fillers are performed by an inexperienced or underqualified injector.
In reality, 0.5ml can be too much too. There is no arbitrary amount of filler over which it is too much or under which it is too little. Too much filler injected close to the vermillion border can result in migration of the filler into the area above it.
Hyaluronidase was also used to dissolve the suspected filler in a second patient, and the third patient has elected to continue with observation. Conclusions: Filler migration is one of the potential complications associated with the injection of soft tissue fillers.
Cheek filler

“This is called the Tyndall effect,” says Steiger. “Sometimes it happens when filler migrates or is placed too superficially under the skin, but it's a fullness that you suddenly start feeling.”
It is important for all physicians to be aware that complication induced by dermal fillers can occur in locations other than the planned injected sites. We described a case of filler migration to the forehead in a patient addicted to cosmetic fillers.
Fillers come in pre-filled syringes, usually with 1 mL per syringe. To avoid duck lips, stick to one syringe per treatment. Honestly, some times we won't even use the whole syringe to avoid the risk of duck lips.
Hyaluronic acid based products are considered one of the safest in dermal fillers, particularly those made from synthesized HA, which is made in bacteria instead of using human or animal tissue.
As well as stretching of the skin, excessive use of fillers can result in longer term damage including wrinkling of the lip and disturbance of the attachment of the facial fat pads and some degree of irregularity and ageing of the skin, he explains.
Deep injections may last as long as 12 months, and newer products on the market may last up to two years.
There is no need to worry as filler placed under the eyes does not migrate. Fillers stay in the site where they are injected. Please remember that it common to have some swelling after filler injections for up to 2 weeks after injection.
