Arizona Robbins, played by actress Jessica Capshaw. Robbins had her left leg amputated in the season premiere episode “Going Going Gone,” and the producers wanted a prosthetic leg Capshaw could walk and stand in, giving her the appearance of having a transfemoral amputation, according to A Step Ahead Prosthetics.
At the end of the season 8, Robbins is hurt badly in a plane crash, resulting in her left leg being amputated. In the aftermath of the plane accident, in which Sloan and Lexie Grey were killed, the hospital is sued and eventually found liable for negligence.
Alex tells Arizona that it was he who cut off her leg, not Callie.
However, as Callie is performing surgery on Derek's injured hand, Arizona crashes and Alex — whom Arizona replaced on the doomed flight — is forced to cut off Arizona's leg in order to save her life, thus putting Callie on the hot seat with her partner.
In the aftermath of discovery, both Callie and Arizona share their feelings and it is revealed that Arizona does not forgive Callie for making the call to amputate her leg.
The reason Arizona won that custody battle is because she was the better person to raise Sofia. Callie decided to run off to New York with her girlfriend of a few months and thought it would be fine to drag her child across the country, away from all her friends, away from her school, and away from her other mom.

Seconds later, Meredith and Cristina appeared and they mourned her death together. Together with the survivors, Lexie's body was taken out of the woods and transported back to Seattle. Cristina once told Owen about the nights in the woods, when she heard animals fighting and growling.
In the ninth season, Karev befriends intern Jo Wilson. They begin a relationship in the tenth season until their break-up in the twelfth season. However, they get back together again and marry in the fourteenth season.
Notes and Trivia
Derek and Meredith were invited, but didn't attend, instead going to the courthouse to legalize their marriage and then going to visit the baby they wanted to adopt, Zola Limbani. Lucy Fields was also invited, but she was stuck at the hospital delivering a baby.
Chandra Wilson is Miranda Bailey, the character who has appeared the most in the Grey's Anatomy franchise, as well as an audience favorite. At the beginning of the show, Bailey was a general surgery resident at the hospital, who was known for her strictness with the interns.
