They found that women were most attracted to muscles that are harder to develop, primarily the abs and biceps. Interestingly, the muscles women found most attractive were, in this order: glutes, biceps, abs, pecs, shoulders, obliques, triceps, and quads.
Defined, Strong Arms
In a HerCampus.com survey of over 100 college women across the country, a majority ranked arms as the biggest turn on. Women feel it's a sign that you take good care of your body and admitted they love to see a hint of a man's biceps through his t-shirt or sweater.
"The shoulder muscles are really the muscles of love and war," says Nancy Etcoff, Ph. D., author of Survival of the Prettiest. They also make the whole look when combined with a broad back. Strong shoulders literally sweep women off their feet.
1. Abs. There are no surprises here, what woman doesn't love a nice set of abdominal muscles? Abs were rated the sexiest male body part by women.
Women tend to prefer men with fit, athletic bodies.
They prefer men who are in much better shape than average but not as lean and strong as most men wish to be. Certainly not as muscular as most bodybuilders. Think of the bodies of soccer players, rugby players, and mixed martial artists.
The body shape that men generally find attractive in women has a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7. That's the ratio of a 70cm waist and 100cm hips, though the study found that size wasn't as important as the proportions. Men like curves.
Delts (Shoulders)
The "delts" are the big, compound shoulder muscles that include the front, middle and rear deltoids. They go nicely with the chest, arm and back muscles to give that powerful upper-body look.
Good news, guys! Over 75% of women prefer FLAB to abs: Sex therapist Tracey Cox explains why women DON'T want chiselled perfection in their bed. Three in four British women would choose a man with love handles over one sporting a six-pack.
Finally, an additional study found that in terms of gauging facial attractiveness, instead of rating men with strong jaws and “macho” features as more appealing, women were more drawn to men with skinnier faces.
Height and weight are right on top of the list of things women notice. “Too much or too little of either immediately classifies the man as unattractive to women, and closes the door before less physically obviously features (such as confidence) can be determined,” says Dr Patzer.
And based on the responses, most women prefer the built/brawny look over the skinny physique. So, it appears that men with muscles are the clear winner here. But wait, there's more! Things get interesting when we break down body type preference by age range.
Surprisingly, the same study also states that 45 per cent of women prefer men with a little chubbiness or simply the average male body over an extremely muscular one. Many might argue that some do like the latter and so, only 2.5 per cent of women had favoured the lean, muscular type.
The 'Perfect' Man
The average 'perfect man' would be just a tad taller than 6 feet with a weight of 187lbs. That's roughly the size of Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum or Gerard Butler, in case you were wondering. They also collected data on the most desirable body traits and body parts.
Clitoris is the answer to all your pleasure-seeking moans and men love it too! Though, few men also like to play around your inner thighs to set your passion on fire. Sami Samuel says, "I love to spend endless time playing with my woman's clitoris.
The stereotypically attractive female body shape is an hourglass figure, which includes wide hips, a narrow waist, and broad shoulders.
Some girls may like shy guys, while others may not, just as some women may prefer outgoing men to those who are more reserved. Moreover, some women may like certain shy men and dislike others, choosing to focus on a person as a whole rather than a small sliver of someone's personality.
In other words, they want guys with slightly more muscle and significantly less body fat than the average person. They found that women were most attracted to muscles that are harder to develop, primarily the abs and biceps.
Calves. Calf muscles are also considered as one of the most difficult to grow in the gym, to the point where many people give up trying. It turns out that the lower leg muscles are not that significantly different from other skeletal muscles.
Both women and men take greater notice of men who look strong. Researchers have found that, with all else equal, people spend more time looking at individuals who look more formidable (strong, able to impose physical costs).
The average height for men varies across the world. In the United States, the average male is about 5 feet 9 inches tall. 1 Factors like genetics, nutrition, and medical conditions can affect where you'll stand on the growth charts.
A study on women's and men's height preferences found that women are most satisfied when their partner was 8 inches (21cm) taller. Men are most satisfied when they are 3 inches (8cm) taller than their partners. Another study found that among men, 13.5 percent prefer to date only women shorter than them.
While men seem to be genetically predisposed to be attracted to women in their mid-to-late-20s, women tend to be attracted to men around their ages, if not older; this means men in their 30s have the best of both worlds. Men in their 30s are attractive to a wide range of women, from 20-somethings to women in their 40s.
