Psalm 8. “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Fall asleep to the comforting promise of Psalm 8, as you name and lay your worries down at God's feet—one by one. Hand your stress over to Jesus tonight, as he instructs us to, and meditate on this good night Bible verse.
Psalm 91 (A Psalm for Protection)
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the resilience that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
Dear God, as I lay me down to sleep, relax the tension of my body; calm the restlessness of my mind; still the thoughts which worry and perplex me.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. A Spirit-filled life does not guarantee a trouble-free earthly life. What God does promise is that He will support you through these trials, and He will not give you more than you can bear.
“I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” This Psalm encourages us to trust in God's guidance and protection, even in life's dark and uncertain moments.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.
In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
1 of 7 Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Psalm 4:8. “In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, Lord, have me dwell in safety.” Dear Lord, You offer a deeper rest than anything this world can boast.
The prayer of protection. The prayer of transformation. The prayer of restoration.
Often called the “Evening Prayer”, Psalm 4 is another example of a song of trust from the grand hymnbook of ancient Israel. The occasion for David's composing this psalm is likely during his flight from his rebellious son Absalom and is a prayer offered to God at the close of yet another long, trouble-filled day.
i ask for your peace to overtake my heart and to embrace my dreams and sleep may your words and promises quiet the worried and anxious thoughts that fill my head. i give you all the things that are beyond my control and trust them to your hands.
Psalm 127:2 King James Version (KJV)
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.
According to him Psalm 109 is a psalm of revenge. The psalm is to be read for three days with the name El (God) in order to bring God's revenge on the wicked enemies.
Psalm 35 is, therefore, read, memorized, chanted, sung or inscribed in parchment to express the African faith, and their personal origin from God. Psalm 35 is also read in order to motivate God to perform a miracle as he has done originally with the people of ancient Israel.
Psalm 91. V1 Whoever goes to the LORD for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, V2 can say to him, “You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.”
I pray to you, Holy Spirit
That I know you'll always be there. Help me be kind and good and help me sleep I pray. Then sweetly wake me with the morning light and stay with me all day. Amen.
Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep. May God guard me through the night, And wake me with the morning's light. Amen.
Psalms 63:6-8 New Living Translation (NLT)
I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.
I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; His Love to guard me through the night, And wake me in the morning's light amen.
Relaxing bedtime rituals contribute to a good night's sleep. Scripture reading, prayer and quiet meditation is a perfect way to ensure your body and mind are prepared for slumber.
Psalm 3 and Psalm 4 are said to be a pair that are intended to go together. They function as bookends for a day. Psalm 3 is a Psalm for the morning (which is probably why it is so angry), and Psalm 4 is a song for the evening. A lullaby, if you like; a soothing song to hum along to before you fall asleep.
For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.
Psalms 90:14 in Other Translations
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
