In the post-Crisis DC Universe,
Jason Todd was a street orphan until he met Batman after he had saved him from The Joker. Jason was trained by Batman and later became the second Robin, but he was beaten and tortured by the Joker, who sent Batman a video of the event and lied by telling him that Jason was dead.
In 1988, Jason Todd's Robin was Infamously Killed by the Joker. The most well-known death of a Robin occurred during the infamous storyline "A Death in the Family" by Jim Starlin and Jim Aparo. In this story, Jason Todd went looking for his birth mother, only to have her give him up to the Joker.
At the end of Batman #427, Jason was beaten by the Joker and left to die in an explosion. The inside back cover of the issue listed two 1–900 numbers that readers could call to vote for the character's death or survival.

This results in a fight between Batman and Superman's allies in the middle of Arkham Asylum, which leads Dick Grayson to fall on a jagged rock, snapping his neck instantly, killing him.

Black Mask tortured and seemingly killed her during the War Games storyline. Despite her training under Batman and Tim, Stephanie isn't a combat prodigy. She has no exceptional skill or strength and is a rather average combatant.
Killed the Joker
In Joker: Last Laugh #6, Nightwing is tricked into believing that the Joker fed Tim Drake to Killer Croc. Enraged at the (supposed) death of his surrogate brother, Nightwing beats the Joker to death.
Damian Wayne, son of Bruce Wayne, inherited his father's temper and lack of tolerance. Joining the One Earth regime, Damian accidentally killed Dick Grayson and later adopted his Nightwing persona.

Jason Todd's notoriety precedes him. This version of Robin was so unanimously disliked that when audiences were given a chance to save him or let him die, they chose to kill him.

Ultimately, Stephanie Brown's time with Batman ended because she was not willing to bend to his will and obey his very harsh rules; the same rules that led to all the Robins deciding that taking the name was a bad thing.
Dick Grayson, formerly known as Robin, later known as the New Joker, is the main antagonist of Frank Miller's comic miniseries The Dark Knight Strikes Again. He was the former Robin, who turned into a murderous psychopath, because of Batman's actions to him as a child.
The death of Jason Todd nearly made the Dark Knight quit. The hero couldn't help but get the same feelings after nearly watching Tim Drake die in his arms and being forced to change his costume at his sidekick's request.
Though he never voiced it, Batman did privately admit that he didn't go searching for Jason because he was afraid of what he would find. He knew Jason was killing people, and Batman couldn't live with the shame of knowing that he had unintentionally created a deadlier version of Joe Chill.
