Yoda survived, however, with the help of natives Chewbacca and Tarfful, who used a hidden shuttle to evacuate the Jedi Master from the planet.
Tarfful was a male Wookiee Chieftain of Kachirho and General who was an old friend of Chewbacca and fought in the Battle of Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars, at least until the battle ended during the start of the Great Jedi Purge.
Tarfful - Wookiee chieftain who, along with Chewbacca, commanded the Wookiee warriors during the Battle of Kashyyyk, and later helped Yoda escape the clone troopers after Order 66 is given in Revenge of the Sith.
Jedi Masters Luminara Unduli and Yoda were among the commanders of a mixed force of clones and Wookiees that defended the coastal city of Kachirho. During the fighting, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued Order 66. Unduli was believed killed, but Yoda sensed danger and struck down the clones sent to kill him.
Age of the Empire
At the end of the Clone Wars, numerous Wookiees were slaughtered by the clone troopers they allied with in the ensuing chaos of the anti-Jedi Order 66, and soon after the establishment of the Galactic Empire, their homeworld of Kashyyyk was blockaded by the Empire.
Mallatobuck (meaning "beautiful singer" in Shyriiwook), also known as Malla, was a female Wookiee from Kashyyyk. She was the wife of Chewbacca, and mother of their son Lumpawaroo. Malla had a brother named Vargi.
The Wookiee honor code was a rule in Wookiee culture which forbade Wookiees from using their extendable claws for anything other than climbing. In the year 34 ABY, Chewbacca, a Wookiee male from Kashyyyk, used his claws to kill a First Order stormtrooper following the murder of his closest friend, Han Solo.
Due to the Wookiees' support the Jedi when Order 66 was issued, the Empire enforced a crackdown, with it taking several days of confusion to restore order in the city. The commando Triton Squad then began killing fugitive Wookiees throughout the forest before the Empire pulled out.
Obi-Wan greets R2-D2 and later recalls “not owning a droid.” Obi-Wan purposely withheld information from Luke in order to keep Luke from straying away. This could offer an explanation as to why he appears to not know who R2-D2 is. Further in Empire Strikes Back, neither Yoda nor Darth Vader recognizes either droid.
Gungi was a male Wookiee Jedi Padawan who trained to become a Jedi in the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars.
Creator George Lucas has explained via a DVD commentary that the reason they were changed to Ewoks was because it wouldn't make sense for the moon's creatures to have a stone-age culture when Chewbacca is so technologically adept at flying spaceships and the like. -- The name "Ewok" is an anagram for "Wookie." Sort of.
It's time to talk about the Wookiee in the room. No, no, not Chewbacca -- Krrsantan! From his first appearance in comics in 2015 to his live-action debut in The Book of Boba Fett, the towering Wookiee always makes a huge impact wherever he goes.
A male Wookiee Mandalorian was the Huntmaster of the third Great Hunt during the Cold War, a time of heated tension between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. He won the third hunt, which happened during the Great Galactic War.
Chewbacca. Following the events of the original trilogy, Chewbacca liberated his homeworld Kashyyyk with the help of Han Solo and other Rebels and later retired. During The Mandalorian, Chewbacca is probably enjoying a peaceful retirement with a loving family you know very little about.
A massive Wookiee general, Tarfful helped defend his native Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars. A distress signal brought Tarfful and his most trusted warriors rushing to Chewbacca's help against the hated Trandoshans on the hunting grounds of Wasskah.
However, because he saw their dynamic as a source of weakness, he opted to spare them. Now that the Empire had gained the upper hand against the rebels, their survival didn't mean much to him in the grand scope of the galactic conflict at hand.
She also knows Obi-Wan, and she knows him well. Her holographic plea for help, already iconic, will never be the same. She knows Obi-Wan's real name as well as his alias of “Ben.” When Luke comes barging into her cell and says, “I'm here with Ben Kenobi,” Leia jumps off the bunk in an instant.
Darth Vader only learned he had a daughter in Return of the Jedi - but there's no evidence he realized she was Leia before his death and redemption. Darth Vader may have never known Princess Leia was his daughter in Star Wars and never cultivated a relationship with her, even when he was a Force ghost.
There are no Wookiee Sith. If you read the “Behind the Scenes” section of the starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Wookiee/Legends page, you will note that Lucas decreed that there would be no more Wookiee force users introduced after 2003 unless he approved.
Even though we saw the Ewoks celebrating at the end of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, Purdue's Planetary researcher Dave Minton says that the Ewoks are all dead thanks to the huge impact from the second Death Star.
Like many other humanoids, the Wookiees had two sexes, male and female. Female Wookiees had six breasts and gave birth to live young, with their gestation period nearly a year long. Wookiee pups were large at birth, averaging slightly less than one meter.
Despite their adorable outward appearance, Ewoks are too quickly underestimated. Fans often wonder how an armored Stormtrooper could be taken down by a bonk on the head with a rock. That's because Ewoks are canonically just as strong as Wookies.
Wookiees are capable of understanding Galactic Basic, but generally none are able to speak it because of the structure of Wookiee vocal cords. In the original Star Wars trilogy, it seems that Chewbacca can understand humans.
Fun fact #3: The name "Wookiee" actually originated from an ad-libbed line in George Lucas' first feature film, THX-1138. 7. Good relations with the Wookiees, Yoda has.
