So although I don't ever really defend Snape, in this instance… Snape was instructed by Dumbledore to give Voldemort the true departure plan for
Thus, he placed a Confundus Charm on Order member Mundungus Fletcher so that the other wizard would suggest a plan to have six others disguise themselves as Harry through the use of Polyjuice Potion to act as decoys. The rest of the Order was unaware of this, as they believed Snape to be a traitor.
However, Mundungus appeared to be braver than people such as Peter Pettigrew. Though he had a tendency to flee when the situation seemed grim, he never actually turned against the Order of the Phoenix. Also, his crimes mainly included stealing and robbing, never killing.
They are betrayed by Mr. Lovegood and captured by Voldemort's Snatchers. Climax: The Snatchers take them to the Malfoy mansion, where Harry and Ron are imprisoned while Bellatrix tortures Hermione for information.
In Chapters 4 and 5, Mundungus is one of the decoy Harry Potters, and is paired with Mad-Eye Moody. Terrified of the Death Eaters pursuing them, he deserts his post, leaving Mad-Eye to get hit by a Death Eater's killing curse. It's one of the least courageous moves we see throughout the entire book and many battles.
Mundungus Fletcher is a minor character in the Harry Potter franchise. He is mainly an anti-heroic and supporting character on the protagonists' side who occasionally serves as an antagonist, depending on the situation. He is a half-blood wizard and a notorious petty criminal with a disreputable reputation.
Mundungus was a petty and unscrupulous criminal, specialising in committing petty crimes to make as much profit as he could. He always took valuable things from wherever he went, such as 12 Grimmauld Place. After Sirius Black's death, Mundungus stole his possessions, including Salazar Slytherin's Locket.
It transpired that Luna had been taken hostage by the Death Eaters, setting up Xenophilius as a potential informant while punishing him for his pro-Potter stance. Xenophilius was clearly terrified, which brought him to make an awful decision – trade Harry for Luna's life.
Peter Pettigrew Selling Out His Best Friend
This betrayal had the biggest damage in the series as it made Harry an orphan, sealed Sirius in Azkaban for twelve years, and led to all the deaths shown in the future when the Wizarding War resumed.
At different points, Dumbledore possessed all three Deathly Hallows. He won the Elder Wand from Grindelwald, had the Invisibility Cloak in his possession when James Potter died, and wore the Resurrection Stone as it sat in Marvolo Gaunt's ring.
Mundungus was loyal to Albus Dumbledore throughout, after he helped him to get out of some trouble. In fact, after the return of Voldemort (in Goblet of Fire), Albus asked Sirius to warn the members, specifically mentioning Mundugus, Arabella Figg and Lupin.
George has his ear cursed off by Severus Snape (by accident), who uses the Sectumsempra curse. When he recovers, he seems in good spirits, making jokes about his new, earless appearance and by saying that at least now their mother will be able to tell them apart.
Harry describes Umbridge to Sirius Black, saying that she's vile enough to be a Death Eater, despite not being one. Umbridge is also depicted to be a prejudiced person, despising half-breeds and Muggle-born witches and wizards to the point of firing Hagrid due to his half-giant birth status.
Hedwig's killer is not explicitly identified, so he/she may have appeared in other books, films or video games, but the only known appearance is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. A popular fan theory based on book canon suggests that Snape may have killed Hedwig.
After the Return of the Dark Lord, Karkaroff escaped Hogwarts and was killed by Death Eaters, few months before Dumbledore's death. Despite their initial greetings, when Harry was selected to be the second champion of the Triwizard Tournament, Karkaroff lost his veneer of civilisaton towards Dumbledore.
We learn that it was Dumbledore's portrait that ordered Snape to give Voldemort the correct time for Harry's departure from Privet Drive. Dumbledore suggests using seven Harry Potters headed for seven safe houses, and instructs Snape to plant that idea in Mundungus Fletcher's mind to pass to the Order of the Phoenix.
A Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Snape is hostile to Harry due to his resemblance to his father James Potter, who bullied Snape during their time together at Hogwarts. As the series progresses, Snape's character becomes more layered and enigmatic.
He doesn't trust Snape as Dumbledore does, but he believes that he can detect any disloyalty. Moreover, Voldemort regards Snape as highly intelligent and therefore ' as a true Slytherin ' a person whose top priority is to take care of himself. To his twisted mind, selfless equals stupid.
In the book, it's primarily because: Hermione didn't disapparate with Harry and Dobby from Malfoy manner. So it's possible she wasn't close by them. Ron apparated with her based on the description of the scene and not knowing Dobby's injury, he probably took her right back to Shell Cottage without thinking.
The time she led Harry to one of the Horcruxes
'Well, there's her lost diadem. I told you about it, remember, Harry? The lost diadem of Ravenclaw? Daddy's trying to duplicate it.

In the fourth Harry Potter film, Barty Crouch Jr. is enlisted by Voldemort to infiltrate Hogwarts to get closer to Harry Potter. He does this by assuming the identity of ex-Auror, Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody and taking the position of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
After the Triwizard Tournament, Dumbledore, Snape, and McGonagall figure out that he's Barty Crouch, Jr. in disguise, a sadistic and clever Death Eater on a mission to bring Voldemort back to life. On a rewatch, fans may start picking up clues that Mad-Eye was actually Crouch, Jr. all along.
Mad-Eye Moody had earned the trust and respect from the likes of Albus Dumbledore, so no one would have ever suspected it was all one big ruse to lead Harry into the hands of Lord Voldemort. You know it's a good trick when even Dumbledore is convinced by your disguise and doesn't suspect a thing from you!
