The actor, who plays Jamie Fraser in the Starz series, recalled filming a scene in which Jamie is sexually assaulted by Black Jack Randall, played by Tobias Menzies. Heughan spoke of the “harrowing” experience filming the scene in his new memoir Waypoints: My Scottish Journey, according to The Independent.
Mary's husband, Ronald MacNab, was angered by Jamie's actions and eventually betrayed Jamie to the Watch, leading to Jamie's capture by redcoats and subsequent imprisonment at Wentworth Prison.
In A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Malva accuses Jamie of being the father of her unborn child. The accusation has weight thanks to her knowledge of his scars.
Jamie denies having slept with her, but the damage to his and to Claire's reputation is done—and the bond between the Frasers and Malva is severed, until just a few weeks later, when Claire finds Malva murdered in the garden. “It's like the peak of the tragedy, and it's so visceral.
While Brianna knows who William is, William does not yet know that Jamie is his father and that Brianna is his sister. He doesn't discover the connection until late in book seven, when he finds himself in Jamie's company and finally sees the resemblance between them.
Jamie marries Claire to keep her from falling into the hands of the evil Captain "Black Jack" Randall. They have one child, Faith, who doesn't survive birth; an adopted son named Fergus; and a daughter, Brianna.
William briefly meets Brianna MacKenzie in Wilmington in July 1776. He is unaware that she is in fact his half-sister. He enjoys her company and finds her a charming woman, with striking blue eyes – Brianna makes a lingering impression on him.
The killer is in fact Malva's brother, Allan Christie (Alexander Vlahos). He is also the father of her baby, having raped and abused Malva since she was a child. Malva had decided to tell the truth, which is why Allan killed her.
Claire eventually realizes that Malva is lying because she knows her husband well enough. Tom seems to question Malva's story. You can see it in his face that he's trying to figure out if this story is true. And then there are the reactions at the funeral when Allan refuses to let Claire carry the baby's coffin out.
When Jamie's negotiations with the governor for Claire's freedom fail, Tom Christie confesses to Malva's murder. In November 1776, Allan comes to Malva's grave and confesses to Claire about raping his sister, that he was the father of Malva's child, and that he killed her because she was going to tell the truth.
As readers of Diana Gabaldon's books know, Jamie is not the father of the baby and it was all a ploy on Malva's part to hide the identity of the baby's real father. Malva was also sleeping with a number of other men on Fraser's Ridge to deflect attention from the real father of the child.
The haircutting was part of the process. Malva wanted to make Claire undesirable. She wanted to make Jamie turn to her instead of to his wife. We can get a sense of that from the way Claire worried about Jamie seeing her with the short, jagged hair.
At the end of episode 7, Claire is arrested for Malva's murder, with many of the accusing residents citing jealousy or witchcraft as her motives, while the fact the young woman's body was found in Claire's garden didn't help her case.
Some think Jamie's spirit (but not his body) traveled to through time to guide Claire to him; others suggest Jamie had a near-death experience after the Battle of Culloden, and that's why his ghost is 25 when he appears to Frank.
Stephen Bonnet is a major antagonist in the fourth season and the main antagonist of the fifth season of Outlander. He is a pirate, smuggler, murderer and all-round disreputable character, as well as the arch-enemy of Brianna Mackenzie.
Jamie doesn't really help matters by choosing this moment to confess that he has cheated – but not with Malva. Instead, he spent one night with someone else before going to prison, long ago (and when separated from Claire by 200 years).
Malva Christie might have only been introduced in Outlander Season 6, but she has a central role in the drama. The daughter of Tom Christie, she is both naive and sinister, and many Outlander fans have struggled to work out her true intentions.
Rather, Tom focused on the wickedness in Malva that needed to be beaten out of her. His ignorance and his bias meant that instead of protecting this young girl, he chose to think of her as evil. Because of everything she puts the Frasers through, Malva is one of the easiest Outlander characters to hate.
She's never seemed curious about the intimacies of a couple before. This suggests that she's up to something. Watching the two gives her information to use in the future.
William loses both his mother Geneva, who dies during childbirth, and his supposed father the Earl (killed by Jamie), shortly after his birth, from there he ends up in the care of Jamie's friend and close confidant Lord John Gray - who had married Geneva's sister Isobel.
Following the Battle of Culloden, Fergus continues to live at Lallybroch, and Jenny Murray tutors him with the rest of her children. He sometimes brings food to Jamie, who lives in a cave near the estate.
During this time, Jamie was left close to death and bereft without his wife. However, after some convincing from his sister Jenny Murray (Laura Donnelly), Jamie married Laoghaire.
This one stings.
Because yes, Claire and Lord John end up married in book seven, and yes, they drunkenly (and full of grief for the loss of Jamie, whom they both love with all of their heart) consummate that marriage.
