Anakin Skywalker, a Tatooine slave boy, was gifted in engineering -- and was strong with the Force. To help his mother, Shmi, he secretly built a droid: C-3PO. In his earliest form, Threepio had no outside covering, and so appeared “naked,” with his internal parts and motors showing.
As such, R2D2 appears to be the state property of Naboo. Queen Amidala as the head of state exercised her control over R2D2. The Droid continued his service to Amidala while she was a Senator. C3PO was built by Anakin Skywalker.
Although C-3PO is not completely assembled in the scene, he is definitely visible to Vader. Darth Vader built C-3PO and spent a lot of time with him from the time of his mother's death to his turn to the dark side. There are several look-a-like protocol droids in the franchise.
At some point, however, C-3PO was seriously damaged and his vital components were left behind on a junk pile on Tatooine. Anakin Skywalker, a slave boy from the Tatooinian city of Mos Espa, collected scrap parts and started rebuilding C-3PO in 34 BBY so the droid would help his mother.
Even though Anakin didn't build R2-D2 like he did with C-3PO, the Tatooine padawan became best buds with the booping and beeping bot.
R2-D2 was present when Padmé gave birth to Leia and Luke, so he knew Luke was Anakin's son – but what he didn't know was that Anakin became Darth Vader. In addition to that, Anakin's fall was surely a painful event in R2-D2's life, one that he definitely wouldn't like to remember or even talk about.
Obi-Wan Was Pretending He Didn't Know R2-D2
The base assumption of why Obi-Wan doesn't remember R2-D2 -- in light of the prequels -- is that Obi-Wan is feigning ignorance in A New Hope to downplay the importance of the droid's arrival.
In The Phantom Menace, set 32 years before A New Hope, R2-D2 is portrayed as belonging to the Naboo defense forces, one of three astromech droids deployed for repair duty onboard Queen Padmé Amidala's (Natalie Portman) starship as it attempts to get past the Trade Federation blockade.
Imperial Stormtroopers. When Chewbacca fixes C-3PO, one of the first things the Protocol Droid does is exclaim his shock that there are Imperial Stormtroopers. Obviously he was oblivious to the fact before his incident, but not afterward. Putting two and two together, he was shot by Stormtroopers.
C-3P0's memory was wiped at the end of Episode III so if he wasn't told he had no idea that his maker was the future Darth Vader. R2-D2 remembers it all and if I had to guess he is quiet sad about Anakin's turn to the dark side.
Although Anakin built C3PO, the droid was just one of many similar protocol droids across the galaxy. Moreover, C3PO had his memory wiped at the end of Episode III. Thus he would not have remembered anything about Darth Vader or who he ever once was.
It is said that R2D2 does, because he didnt have his memory wiped after The Clone Wars, but C3PO defiantly doesnt because he had his memory wiped after The Clone Wars. Hope this helps.
After the battle, R2-D2 and C-3PO were the sole witnesses to the marriage of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala in Lake Country. After this Padmé gave ownership of R2 to Anakin while she kept 3PO.
Unfortunately, the entire chapter is told from Yoda's perspective, so it's unknown if R2-D2 recognized Yoda as well. One would imagine he did, since he did not have his memory wiped in Revenge of the Sith, and Yoda has a very distinct appearance and manner of speech.
Anakin Skywalker is the son of Shmi Skywalker, born without a father through the Force. He is the secret husband of Padmé Amidala, the father of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, the father-in-law of Han Solo, and the maternal grandfather of Ben Solo.
While Luke Skywalker comes to rescue them, Leia chokes Jabba to death by wrapping the chain connected to her around his neck. Outside of the main films, Jabba first appears in the Marvel comics with the appearance of a slim humanoid with a walrus-like face.
While trying to reach Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Solo met his untimely end when his son stabbed him with his lightsaber. The moment was among the most pivotal in the sequel trilogy, having a profound effect on a number of the characters away and present for Han's death.
Obi-Wan Kenobi's R2-D2 and C-3PO cameos occur at different points in the show's first episode, as they are not shown on screen at the same time. Star Wars' C-3PO's appearance comes first as he is seen repeatedly in the background of the Organa's party.
During this week's edition of The Star Wars Show web series, Lucasfilm revealed the first look and details of the droid C2-B5. He (or, rather, it) is essentially a black-painted R2-D2 because, as we learn in the video shown below, both are part of the astromech droid family.
In an interview with Wired, director J.J. Abrams refers to BB-8 as a “he,” while Neal Scanlan, the head of the creature shop at Lucasfilm, seems a bit more confused in his talk with EW: I'm still not sure, dare I say, whether BB-8 is male or female. BB-8 was female in our eyes.
While Obi-Wan Kenobi seemed not to know R2-D2 in Star Wars: A New Hope, one theory argues that he recognized the droid but chose not to tell Luke. Despite acting as if he did not know the astromech droid, one theory holds that Obi-Wan Kenobi recognized R2-D2 in Star Wars: A New Hope.
In Death Star, it seems the Sith Lord could have discovered Leia's true identity if he'd pursued his hunch. However, Leia's strong-mindedness during Vader's probe denied him the opportunity to discover she was his daughter.
Darth Vader didn't learn he had a daughter until Return of the Jedi, when he stood before Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor's power probed Luke's mind, attempting to goad him to fall to the dark side, and he discovered Leia's existence. "Sister," the Emperor taunted.
Every time she speaks, he remembers Padmé. Fighting alongside Sabé reminds him of fighting alongside his wife. While that is certainly painful enough, it's also reminds Vader of the man he used to be, a past he had long ago attempted to kill and bury. However, the memory of Padmé via Sabé won't let his past stay there.
