The hammer Stormbreaker is very similar to Mjolnir, made of mystic Uru metal and is nearly indestructible. Worthiness: Just like the original Mjolnir, no one can lift Stormbreaker who is not worthy.
Many viewers have pointed out that Thanos was able to lift Stormbreaker without a problem, but this is because the ax isn't enchanted as Mjolnir is. Others believe Thanos lifted Mjolnir (although briefly) and have even argued that he would be worthy of doing so.
During a Vudu Viewing Party for Avengers: Infinity War, co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed a key difference between Thor's hammer Mjolnir and his new ax Stormbreaker: the latter doesn't require worthiness. That's why Groot was able to lift the ax, not because he was worthy but because he didn't need to be.
Thor can still lift his hammer but hela destroyed it as seen in ragnarok.
3/9 Adolescent Groot Was The First One To Hold Stormbreaker
While no one besides Thor has been able to truly wield the awesome might of Stormbreaker, Groot was the very first being to hold this weapon when one of his arms became the handle for the mighty axe.
Thor's hammer Mjolnir was defined by the fact that only the 'worthy' could lift it – so basically no-one except the god of thunder (and Vision, for some reason). But when it comes to the weapon's replacement, Stormbreaker – which Thor forges in Avengers: Infinity War – Groot is able to lift it too.
Yes, even Spider-Man has been worthy of holding the hammer of Thor. This is not your father's Spider-Man (well, actually, it could be if your dad was a kid in 1993), but instead is the Spider-Man of Marvel's distant future of 2099!
Stormbreaker is jealous about Mjölnir's return because the ax is basically a moody teenager. In Thor: Love & Thunder, Chris Hemsworth's Thor comes face to face with somebody he once loved.
Although Stormbreaker and Mjolnir have very similar properties and powers, Stormbreaker is the most powerful weapon wielded by Thor so far. The obvious reasons are that Stormbreaker is the physically larger weapon out of the two, and not to mention that it is an axe, which could well be more dangerous than a hammer.
For example, Marvel – which publishes the Thor comics – issued a “Thor's Hammer” trading card in 1991 that states Mjolnir is made of Uru and weighs precisely 42.3 pounds. That's lighter than a herd of 300 billion mice, much less a herd of 300 billion elephants.
For unexplained reasons, Thor remains the only one able to lift the hammer in this universe despite Odin never shown enchanting it with the "worthy" spell. Mjolnir returns in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) with Jane Foster wielding a reconstructed version of the hammer.
Despite becoming worthy again, Thor noticed Mjolnir becoming heavier to lift after becoming Asgard's new All-Father, the will of the hammer deeming him unworthy of wielding it.
Both in the comics and the MCU films, many characters other than Thor himself, both heroes and villains, have been able to lift Mjolnir. Only a select few, however, have been able to do so out of worthiness. From Throg to Beta Ray Bill, these heroes have proved that they have a heart as pure as the God of Thunder's.
CAN MAGNETO LIFT THOR'S HAMMER? Yes,magneto can control magnetic fields not metals. So Marvel had revealed that Magneto can lift Thor's hammer.
Thor uses Stormbreaker to summon the Bifrost Stormbreaker is able to focus and enhance Thor's powers. Due to it being composed of Uru, the weapon is nigh-indestructible and able to withstand energy blasts created by the Infinity Stones.
Mjolnir, meanwhile, has been around a lot longer than Stormbreaker, having once belonged to Thor's sister, Hela, before Odin imprisoned her. Mjolnir's journey with Thor in the MCU started way back in 2011, when Odin enchanted the weapon to possess the powers of Thor and only be lifted by someone who was worthy.
The raw power of the Infinity Stones is definitely greater than Stormbreaker, but they depend entirely on the focus of the wielder. There's also the added factor that we're talking about the Infinity Gauntlet being powered by Infinity Stones. Both Stormbreaker and the Gauntlet were created by the Dwarf king Eitri.
It is not sharpened. Sizes: Length of the handle: 108 cm (42.54") Length of the axe head: 28 cm (11.03") Length of a working blade: 18 cm (7.09") Size of the hammer: 9.5 cm (3.74") x 9.5 cm (3.74") Weight: 4.7 kg (10.34 lbs) Color of the handle: brown.
Mjolnir, the Mystical Uru Warhammer
Mjolnir, Thor's primary weapon, is the most easily recognized symbol of the thundering hero. Bestowed with a blessed enchantment, this hammer can only be picked up by those who have been proven worthy of its immense power.
Mjolnir was forged by a dwarf named Sindri. While he was creating it, Loki, the trickster fire god, disguised himself as a fly and attempted to interfere with Sindri's work by buzzing around him. As a result, Mjolnir's handle was unusually short.
She continues to use Mjölnir, even though doing so weakens her body and accelerates her cancer, because she wants to help Thor and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) save the children of Asgard.
Interestingly, according to comics, one of Moon Knight's abilities even allows him to control Thor's hammer (Mjolnir) which otherwise only Captain America and Hela could do in previous MCU films.
Characters like Superman and Wonder Woman have been shown in the past to be worthy enough to wield Mjolnir, but these instances were during crossovers between DC and Marvel where the Marvel version of Thor was present, so it was to be expected.
