Carnage barely put up a fight. Pieces of the symbiote were on him, but he didn't fully transform or try to defend himself. Venom simply pulled the symbiote off of him and ate it, becoming stronger.

2 Eddie Brock Is The Venom Symbiote's One And Only True Love
Venom's symbiote has explained on many occasions that the Klyntar planet is practically devoid of emotions, yet over time he knows that he forms genuine love for Eddie.
Venom is a villain in Marvel's Spiderman. He also known as Eddie Brock. He hates Spiderman because he thinks he is the cause of all the bad luck in his life. Venom is bigger and stronger then Spiderman.
Venom went through a procedure where multiple "offspring" were created from him—thus Riot, the product of a symbiote spawn and Trevor was born. Unlike the other symbiote hosts, Trevor was extremely aggressive and unsympathetic, far worse than his "siblings" (with the only exception being Carnage).
Originating as an offspring of Venom, Carnage is much more powerful than its parent symbiote because of the symbiotes' biology, and is in many ways a darker version of him.
Venom felt like an inferior symbiote and needed a host who he could make themselves into better beings. Carnage is the opposite due to the criminal insanity of his host and Venom probably fears that part of him that he tried to control in Brock. Is Venom the weakest among his kind?

History. Anne Weying first met Eddie Brock while a law student at Empire State University, and fell in love with him after he falsely claimed to have saved her from a group of thugs. Anne and Eddie eventually married, and while he became a journalist for the Daily Globe she became a successful lawyer.
The Venom symbiote never identifies as male or female, taking on both a masculine and feminine appearance depending on the host. Nonbinary folks have related to this character's gender fluidity. Even though the symbiotes all possess a masculine-presenting voice, gender itself is never established.
