According to Brian Baumgartner's new book, Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: the Ultimate Oral History of The Office, a plotline for the show's Season 8 episode "After Hours" involved Jim cheating on Pam with her maternity leave replacement Cathy Simms (Lindsey Broad).
"The Office" creator almost had Jim cheat on Pam, but John Krasinski was adamant it was a bad idea. Krasinski explained that loyal fans of the show would "never come back" if Jim cheated. Jim and Pam hit a rough patch in their marriage in the final season but ultimately reconcile.
Even though Pam was emotionally drawn to Brian and his ability to support her through her negative feelings, she didn't actually cheat on Jim with the guy.
Dunder Mifflin asks Cathy Simms (Lindsey Broad) to fill in for Pam while she's on maternity leave. In Season 8, Episode 7, "Pam's Replacement," Pam tries to get Jim to admit that he finds Cathy attractive, but Jim denies any feelings for her.

One of the storylines in the last seasons of the American version of The Office involved some relationship issues between Jim and Pam, and now it's been revealed that the original plan was for Jim to cheat on Pam with Cathy.
Writer Owen Ellickson says there was even some talk of Pam and Brian “maybe hooking up a little bit,” but Daniels says he never intended for their relationship to get that far: “Ultimately, I didn't think it was about actually going there. They never did anything.
According to the fan theory, Jim admitted he cheated on Pam during the last episode of The Office titled 'Finale. ' When Pam was asked during the Q&A session why she stopped trusting Jim, he appeared to hastily cut her off.
She said, “It's a type of relationship that is very intimate, and it's very powerful, but it's fictional. I mean, there is a part of me that is Pam, and there's a part of him that is Jim, and that part of me is in love with that part of him. But in real life, we are just friends.”
Thankfully, the iconic TV couple remained together till the end.
Finally being honest to herself about her feelings for Jim, Pam breaks down and cries after realizing she is pushing him into the arms of another woman ("Back From Vacation"). Although Jim admits to Karen that he still has feelings for Pam ("The Return"), their relationship still seems solid and happy.

Jim and Pam tell Dwight they are quitting, but Dwight fires them instead so he can give them hefty severance packages, as a last gesture of friendship. The employees give one last round of interviews before leaving.
The scene was from season 3, episode 12 "Back From Vacation," which found Fischer's character Pam being consoled by Dwight, who was played by Rainn Wilson. The shot shows Pam crying in private after she helped Jim (John Krasinski) get through his first fight with his then-girlfriend Karen (Rashida Jones).
However, during The Office season 9, the two run into marital problems. It was later said the plan was to actually have Jim and Pam split up within season 9, though that was ultimately changed.
Pam and Jim's second child is born during season 8. In season 9, their marriage becomes strained when Jim takes up a second job in Philadelphia. They ultimately decide to leave Dunder Mifflin together so Jim can pursue his dream job.
Sexual Partners
By the end of Season 4, Pam has had sex with all of her major co-workers at ISIS (male and female) except for Cheryl Tunt and Ray Gillette. She also made sexual advances to a Mexican man named Jorge working in her dairy in Coyote Lovely, although the sex was never explicitly confirmed.
The episode guest stars Chris Diamantopoulos as Brian the boom operator. Brian's character is named after the series' actual boom mic operator, Brian Wittle. Wittle played the part of one of the annoyed parents at Cece's recital.

Broad played Cathy, the maternity leave replacement of Pam Beesley (Jenna Fischer) on The Office in season 8. In her character arc, Cathy attempted to seduce Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) during the Dunder Mifflin crew's business trip to Florida, despite his marriage to Pam.
Upon Andy's return, Erin breaks up with Andy. In the series finale, Erin reunites with her birth parents, who had seen the documentary and showed up at a Q&A forum with the office members. It is implied that she is still dating Pete, as they are shown dancing at Dwight and Angela's wedding.
According to the reports that have surfaced, Krasinski was required to cut his hair short for the 2008 sports comedy Leatherheads, but showrunner Greg Daniels did not think it would suit Jim Halpert. That's why Krasinski embarked on a top-secret project by actually donning a wig during the filming of season 3.
