One off payment principles

The $250 cost of living payment

On 24 March 2023, a new round of the PSB program commenced. Victorian households are now able to receive a new $250 payment, including any households that received a payment through previous rounds of the program.
How can I get the $250 payment? You can apply for the $250 Power Saving Bonus payment by visiting the Victorian Energy Compare website from Friday March 24, 2023. To receive the payment, you'll need to have a recent residential electricity bill with you and be the account holder for that bill.
Tip: The $250 payments are not available to anyone who receives the Coronavirus Supplement. The Work Bonus income bank is useful for pensioners who wish to work, particularly those who undertake intermittent or occasional work. Note: from 1 December 2022 to 31 December 2023, a one-off, temporary credit of $4,000 applies to Work Bonus income bank balances.

The payment rates for Age Pension, Carer Payment and Disability Support Pension are increasing from 20 March 2023. Age Pension, Carer Payment and Disability Support Pension will increase by $37.50 a fortnight for singles and $56.40 a fortnight for couples combined.

The last date for payment of the second Economic Support Payment is 30 June 2023. The last date for payment of the additional Economic Support Payment 2020 and the additional Economic Support Payment 2021 is 30 June 2023.

Carer Payment
The current maximum rate for a single person is $967.50 per fortnight, or $729.30 for a member of a couple. Constant care is defined as daily care which is the equivalent of a normal working day.
