by Tim Hardwick, MacRumors — February 8, 2023 . Samsung's newly announced Galaxy S23 Ultra hasn't quite hit the market yet, but unearthed benchmarks for the device suggest Apple still has the world's fastest mobile processor by a considerable margin.
The processor is the main component that determines the speed of your device. iPhones use Apple's A-series processors, while Samsung phones use either Exynos or Snapdragon processors. Both processor families are capable of providing excellent performance, but Apple's A-series processors tend to be faster.
In multi-core performance, the difference was smaller but it was still prominent. The Samsung flagship achieved a score of 4584 while the iPhone 14 Pro scored 5384. This means, in multi core performance, the Apple flagship is about 14.86 percent faster.
And, with a new A16 Bionic chip on the horizon, it's likely that Apple's devices will remain the fastest smartphones on the market for some time. Apple devices routinely outpace similarly spec'd Android models in benchmark testing. That's the case even if an Android device has a lot more RAM on paper.
There are pros and cons to both systems, but overall, one works just as well as the other. It all comes down to what you want out of your software. Android is more customizable and has more features and complex options, while iOS is more straightforward, easy to use and has a higher level of security.
The lifetime of smartphones like Samsung and iPhone is much longer than smaller brands. Here is a breakdown of the average mobile life according to the different brands: iPhone – four to eight years. Samsung – three to six years.
Another major advantage that iPhones have over Samsung phones is the longevity of the devices. Although Samsung now offers four years of major Android updates for its flagships and mid-range phones, iPhones can easily last for five to six years.
In our Geekbench tests, the iPhone 13 (with its A15 chip) handily defeated all the Galaxy S22 models. For reference, the iPhone 13 got 1,721 and 4,629 on the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively, and the Galaxy S22+ got 1,232 and 3,433.
Compared to Android devices, Apple phones offer better performance. They are built to work faster and smoother. Even the old iPhone models work well and have smooth functioning. With excellent internal storage, iPhones feel like a magical illustration.
Samsung's Galaxy and Google's Pixel now have faster download speeds than Apple's iPhone, shared the mobile performance report from Ookla.
Fastest smartphones by download speed
The new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra earned the top spot with 161.86 Mbps median download speed with the Galaxy Z Fold4 coming in second with 143.56 Google's Pixel 7 Pro landed in third at 132.57 Mbps. The iPhone 14 Pro Max came in fourth at 130.99 Mbps.
security. While iOS may be considered more secure, it's not impossible for cybercriminals to hit iPhones or iPads with malicious software. Because of this, the owners of both Android and iOS devices need to be aware of possible malware and viruses, and be careful when downloading apps from third-party app stores.

The iPhones have a series of processors that reportedly deliver better performance than most Android phones. In addition, Apple blends hardware and software well, making the iPhone more efficient and effective.
Currently, the best processor for mobile is Apple A14 Bionic. It is the same chip that powers the new iPhone 12 series and Apple iPad. Also read: AMD Ryzen 7 vs Intel Core i7: Which Is The Better Flagship CPU?
Large Cache Memory
ARM architecture processors typically contain one or two MB of cache memory, but the iPhone contains either 4MB or 8MB cache memory. A larger cache memory allows faster data exchange with the CPU, thereby boosting the overall processing speed.
Fast software updates for many years: The biggest advantage iOS has over Android is its software updates: Apple generally supports new iPhones and iPads with iOS updates for five to six years after their release date, and all of those devices get the same updates at the same time.
Software and Hardware Integration
Apple's iOS is a closed ecosystem, which means that Apple manufactures both Operating systems and hardware and no other company uses either of them to integrate with their services. It gives Apple an edge over Android to provide a better synchronization between hardware and software.
A combination of the software and the modem chips in the smartphone are the major factors that determine its data download speed. According to experts, the reason for the slower iPhones is that Apple uses modems that are either from Intel or Qualcomm in the latest iPhone models.
The Galaxy S22's AMOLED panel has 1080 x 2340 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1300 peak brightness with HDR10+ support. The iPhone 14 panel offers a higher resolution at 1170 x 2532 pixels and provides 1200 nits brightness and Dolby Vision support.
iPhone 14 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Camera Specs
The iPhone 14 Pro has a triple-lens setup, but the Samsung S22 Ultra manages to go one better by having four cameras on the rear. Both have an ultra-wide, a standard lens, and a 3x zoom lens, but you also get a 10x zoom lens with the Samsung.
Samsung phones have an average lifespan of 3-6 years. Because Samsung devices are highly durable, they can last you for more than five years if you're careful with them or get them repaired as soon as they need minor repairs.
According to the latest data on smartphone market shares in the US, as of June 2023, Apple has the biggest piece of the pie, with 57.4%. In other words, more than half of all smartphones sold there are manufactured by Apple. Apple has a strong lead over its closest rival, Samsung.
They make the consumer feel good about themselves
This is probably one of the biggest reasons why people love Apple. It's because they make the consumer feel like they're somehow a better person for having the product. The story that they convey throughout their marketing is a powerful one.
iOS Is Much Easier to Use
A big reason why people prefer iOS is that it's much easier to use than Android. The latter usually has a steeper learning curve, especially since there are many different Android skins from various Android phone makers like Samsung, OnePlus, Vivo, Nothing, and more.
