With the demon lord he'd created, Satannish, and warlock Nicholas Scratch leading his armies, Dormammu sought to conquer all life and afterlife. He was eventually vanquished by the heroine Hellcat and the united forces of Hell.
Dormammu is apparently killed by Illyana off-page. The entity reappears with a plot to turn humanity into Mindless Ones, but is thwarted by the plans of Phil Coulson, with help from the Absorbing Man and the Howling Commandos.
Galactus would easily defeat Dormammu outside the Dark Dimension, but it turns out that even on Dormammu's turf, he retains his power and has the means to grow even stronger.
Galactus would win in a fight against Dormammu. He is simply a more powerful entity whose powers can cross over even to the Dark Dimension ruled solely by Dormammu. The two fought before in the comics, and Galactus easily consumed Dormammu.
Beings like Galactus, Celestials, Aspects, Concepts, hell, even Sentry, and Thor are far stronger than him.

In the Dark Dimensions Dormammu is all powerful and seperated from his power source and the life energy of Yggradsil Odin would struggle much more and most likely Dormammu could defeat the all father, although again maybe not kill him.
1: Thanos — The Infinity Saga. Acuna: Remember when the MCU had stakes? Thanos is the only Marvel villain to successfully execute his evil plan and it wasn't some tired "I want to take over the world" scheme. He wiped out half the population of the entire world for five years.
After invading the Dark Dimension, Vision managed to free the Scarlet Witch from her binds, allowing the two to go after Dormammu. In a surprisingly quick fight, Scarlet Witch and Vision defeated Dormammu and his sister, Umar.

The character was introduced during a story arc in which Doctor Strange confronted Dormammu for the first time.
