However, Superman does have the advantage in that he's faster than Thor. Not that Thor is any slow moving slug, it's just there's only one person faster than Supes and that man is the Flash (clearly proved in comic book lore when they race).
By most accounts, Superman seemingly outclasses Thor in terms of raw strength, especially in earlier versions of the DC Universe. He's pulled planets, punched people into orbit and performed all sorts of wild feats of strength.
In a direct physical speed matchup, The Flash will definitely trounce Thor. After all, The Flash has been calculated to travel at ludicrous speed, as fast as13x the speed of light!!!
These days, Superman is depicted as being able to move faster than light, usually when he's flying outside of Earth's atmosphere. This means that Superman can move faster than 186,000 miles per second. Yes, per second.
Superman is the most iconic superhero in not just DC but the entire comic book genre. He is the literal embodiment of wholesomeness and goodness. The Man of Steel is the best humanity can offer, and there is not even a little doubt that Superman can lift Thor's hammer.
It was later revealed that although Superman was honorable enough to wield Thor's hammer, he does not possess the heart of a warrior, and so Odin temporarily took away the hammer's enchantment so that Superman could save the day.
Thor is powerful but he's rarely faced a foe as powerful as the Reverse Flash, one who can hit him a million times before Thor could blink. With powers like his, the Reverse Flash has what it takes to beat Thor.
You may know the famous words about Superman: “Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound”… but what does all of that really mean?
Some Facts about Superman and Aquaman's Abilities
Superman can fly at the speed of light when he is in outer space (note the words “outer space”). That is 186,282 miles per second. On land, Superman can run at the speed of 2,000 miles per second. So generally speaking, Superman is indeed faster than Aquaman.
While in an Earth-like atmosphere, Thor generally flew at roughly the Speed of Sound, roughly 770 miles per hour. Thor could fly so fast that he is invisible to the naked eye. He has been clocked flying at three times the speed of light, and is capable of achieving speeds far greater than that.
In the comics, Godspeed is a few notches faster than Barry Allen as shown in the above photo where he struggled to keep up with him. The only way Barry was able to stop the villainous speedster was to "short-circuit" both their connections to the Speed Force, which temporarily cuts off their super speed.
Thor: 3,500 lb.
Assessing Thor's strength might be even harder than the Hulk.
He can travel through space unharmed and can summon powerful bolts of lightning with his indestructible enchanted hammer. The Flash may be able to escape harm for a bit, but in the end, Thor would be too strong for the Flash to withstand.
Hercules / Zeus
Hercules (Yes, that Hercules) is, of course, the son of the Olympian god, Zeus. While not cosmic (none of that on this list!), he can survive the vacuum of space and resist cosmic attacks. He ranks above Thor here because he's technically the stronger of the two.
This difference in gravity allows Superman to lift objects that measure in the tons. In fact, the comics have put Superman's strength at a point where he's able to lift around 2 billion tons! To put that into perspective, the Empire State Building is only 365,000 tons!
While not as fast as the Flash, he has been shown easily running at a speed of over Mach 500, while less powerful (Black Adam's speed was being drained by the Flash). Superhuman Speed: Ability to sharpen his awareness and increase his temporal flow, appearing to move faster than humanly possible.
In the DC Comics, Superman was faster than both Shazam and Black Adam.
Superhuman Speed: Superman Prime One Million has the ability to move and fly incredibly fast. He can likely achieve speeds trillions of times faster than light.
Superman can run and think fast, he just doesn't come close to The Flash's top speed. In all instances of racing The Flash, Superman has never bested him, and throughout the entire history of DC comics, these two heroes have drawn twice. The Flash has bested Superman on two occasions so far.
The comic explains that Superman flew eleven light years within a few minutes, at "a speed faster than light." Indeed, this speed is thousands of times beyond lightspeed.
While Thor's short temper has been well-documented, his determination is also a major weakness. Thor's determination is a weakness in that he keeps throwing himself at an adverse situation to the point of threatening his life.
He's on Superman's level, though Shazam's powers are derived from magic. However, being powerful is not what makes Shazam worthy of Mjolnir. In fact, Shazam is not the one who is worthy of the hammer; Billy Batson is.
