In the film, we learned that Rey was a Palpatine, and her father was a clone of the infamous Sith Lord. However, it did raise the question of why would Palpatine let one of his clones escape especially since he was later revealed to be a failed clone.
However, doing so kills Rey herself, until she is resurrected by Ben, who gives his life for hers. Despite being a Palpatine by blood, Rey takes on the Skywalker surname with the blessing of Luke's and Leia's spirits, who proudly watch in the distance.
And through it all, we learned very little about Rey's parents. For instance, what were their names? That question is answered in the new Star Wars novel Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher. In a new excerpt, it's revealed that the names of Rey's parents are Dathan and Miramir.
Biologically speaking, it wouldn't be possible for Rey to be a clone of Anakin. A clone of Anakin would have to look like this. Clones of Force-sensitives are not guaranteed to be Force-sensitive themselves. Additionally, a clone is supposed to be a genetic copy of a person.
Moreover, although viewers had been told she was a nobody, The Rise of Skywalker revealed Rey's real parentage, or at least did so in part, as the 2019 movie confirmed Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine.
The weapon had a kyber crystal at its heart, and emitted a yellow-colored plasma blade when ignited. The emitter matrix on Rey's weapon featured a rotating gear-like mechanism, which caused the emitter of the lightsaber to open up and allow the plasma blade through.
Rey, despite learning she's the granddaughter of Sheev Palpatine, chooses to call herself a Skywalker. It's her choice. She could have called herself anything. But rather than handcuff herself to her Palpatine bloodline, she decided to take the name of the heroes who came before her.
Well, a new Star Wars tie-in has finally answered that question. In The Rise of Skywalker's novelization, we learn that Rey's father was a failed clone of Emperor Palpatine. He was initially created to be a vessel to house Palpatine and his Sith power.
Rey's father was the cloned son, artificial genetic strandcast, of the resurrected Darth Sidious, making her the granddaughter of the fallen Galactic Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith.
In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we got an answer to the question of Rey's parents: they were nobodies.
After years of speculation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi revealed that Rey (Daisy Ridley), the main character of the new trilogy, is not the child of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). In fact, she's the child of “nobody” — per Rey's own words.
Rey is Anakin's half sister, and Palpatines relations to Rey through the force. Rey is a genetic experiment/force experiment of immaculate conception orchestrated by palpatine. So Rey is Palpatines daughter or grand daughter, in a metaphorical sense. The same way Anakin is Palpatines son through the force.
Affiliation(s) Zayne Skywalker was a force-sensitive Jedi Knight, and the son of Ben Solo and Rey Palpatine, a dyad in the force as the grandson of the Chosen One and the son of power force wielders, who became a legendary warrior and hero for the galaxy in the decades after the Battle of Exegol.
Powerfully Force-sensitive, Rey trains to be a Jedi under siblings Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, and faces adversaries such as Kylo Ren, Supreme Leader Snoke and the resurrected Emperor Palpatine—who is revealed to be her grandfather in The Rise of Skywalker.
Although Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concludes with Rey choosing the name of Skywalker and completing her path to becoming a Jedi, it's possible that she was actually the reincarnation of Anakin all along.
Rey's father was a genetic clone of the Emperor himself. Her mother was the woman he loved on Jakku before hiding Rey away from the Empires agents. This reveal, too, was a shock to fans who were largely not expecting any more information on the subject as it had been put to rest in the previous film.
Miramir was a human female who worked as a junk trader during the New Republic Era. Her husband Dathan was the cloned "son"—an artificial Strand-Cast—of Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith and Galactic Emperor. Miramir had a Force-sensitive child with Dathan, a daughter named Rey, who was born in 15 ABY.
What is the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey? As Kylo Ren himself says in The Rise of Skywalker, he and Rey are bonded not just by their familial legacies (Ren as the grandson of Darth Vader and Rey as the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine) but by their unique connection in the Force.
Eventually, another three-eyed child, Triclops, was born. Rumor had it that his mother was Palpatine's Umbaran aide Sly Moore, who had impregnated herself using DNA from an undisclosed source.
But if Palpatine essentially fathered Anakin through the Force, the Emperor would be the great-grandfather of Kylo Ren and the grandfather of Rey, making the pair first cousins once removed.
Born in 15 ABY on the planet Hyperkarn, Rey was the daughter of a young man and woman, whose names were lost to history. Her father, Dathan, was the cloned "son," a bioengineered strandcast, of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, making her the granddaughter of the fallen Galactic Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith.
In the final episode in the Skywalker Saga, Emperor Palpatine — dark lord of the Sith and former supreme leader of the Galactic Empire — reveals he had a son: Rey's father, which would mean Palpatine is Rey's grandfather.
While it's not likely that Yoda was actually talking about Rey, the line could have still been laying the groundwork for the next generation of Force users and Rey's role. After all, we know Yoda can foresee future events. Perhaps Luke trained Rey to be a Jedi at Yoda's urging.
It wasn't until an Academy screening of “Rise of Skywalker” after the film's theatrical opening that Abrams said Finn wanted to tell Rey that he is Force sensitive. This clarification came after Boyega took to social media to declare, “No, Finn wasn't going to say I love you before sinking!”
Ben Solo/Kylo Ren. Ben Solo is the love of Rey's life. Initially unknown to Rey, she forms a dyad in the Force with Ben. The dyad is an unbreakable Force-bond that makes them one in the Force, despite being born as two physically separated individuals.
