At Hogwarts, the Black students are Lee Jordan, Angela Johnson, Dean Thomas, and Blaise Zabini. They kind of exist like seat fillers in Harry's peripheral rather than being central characters.
In the film series, Hermione Granger was, of course, played by Emma Watson. Then, in the original London cast of the stage show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the character was played by Noma Dumezweni. Several other Black actresses subsequently took over the role including Paula Arundell and Yanna McIntosh.
Bem (born c. 1979-1980) was a Nigerian wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1991 to 1998. He was sorted into Gryffindor and is in Harry Potter's year, however he does not dorm with Harry and friends.
She added that children's book authors often default to white characters “and then realize it's kinder to young audiences to mix up the diversity in the next series. 'Cursed Child' therefore changed Hermione.”
“But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.” Rowling also called Dumezweni the “best actress for the job.” She has previously said Hermione's race was never described in the books.
JK Rowling's Thoughts on Black Hermione
Rowling added that when the books talked about Hermione's “white face” it was because the color left her face due to shock and that the character has her blessing to be black.
Blaise Zabini was a student in Harry Potter's year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was a student in Slytherin and was part of Draco Malfoy's gang of bullies. He appeared in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Scorpius Malfoy
He joins Hogwarts at the same time as Albus Potter, forming an unlike friendship on the Hogwarts Express. This grows when the two of them are sorted into the same house, Slytherin. Unlike Draco, Scorpius focuses his Slytherin-like determination into his studies, being an avid reader.
Hermione was a prominent example of this as, on the surface, she appeared like someone who would fit right into Ravenclaw. But beyond her interests, her values define her as someone with a take-charge personality and bravery to spare. Unlike Ravenclaws, she didn't apply knowledge in unique ways.
Hermione was born in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England.
Her real parents were Daneel and Dean Novak, Pureblooded wizards. Turns out Daneel was Tom Riddles younger sister, Daneel Riddle. Of course, the Riddles were related to Salzar Slytherin himself, and this made Hermione the living heir of Slytherin. The problem with being a female Slytherin heir, is that they're cursed.
Discourse around a black Hermione first began in 2015, when it was announced that South African-British actress Noma Dumezweni would play Hermione in Harry Potter And The Cursed Child - a stage play released the following year.
Across the eight Harry Potter films, the school of witchcraft and wizardry had just three black students in speaking roles.
The characters that we *know* are black are Angelina Johnson, Dean Thomas, Lee Jordan, Kingsley and the Zabini family.
Flora was sorted into Slytherin House along with her identical twin sister, Hestia, at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the age of eleven, and became a member of the Slug Club in the 1996–1997 school year.
Blood purity
There had also been definite examples of half-bloods sorted into the house, including Tom Riddle, Dolores Umbridge, and Severus Snape. Harry Potter, a half-blood, was nearly sorted into Slytherin, but because he asked not to be, he was placed in Gryffindor instead.
Scarlett Hannah Hefner (née Byrne; born 6 October 1990) is an English actress. She is best known for her roles as Slytherin student Pansy Parkinson in the Harry Potter series, and as Nora Hildegard in The Vampire Diaries.
In between the battle of Hogwarts and the epilogue, Astoria married Draco Malfoy and became pregnant with Scorpius Malfoy, their only child. Astoria tragically inherited the family curse that her ancestor had and she passed away. She also was a member of the Greengrass family, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.
Andromeda married a Muggle-born, Ted Tonks, and was subsequently disowned by the Blacks, whereas Narcissa, conversely, married Lucius Malfoy, heir of a wealthy pure-blood family; thus, Bellatrix is the aunt of both Nymphadora Tonks and Draco Malfoy, respectively.
The Malfoys are related to the Black family through Narcissa (a first cousin of Sirius Black, Harry's godfather), which makes Draco a nephew of both Bellatrix Lestrange and Andromeda Tonks. Draco is also Nymphadora Tonks' first cousin through their mothers.
I've read somewhere that the costume designers tried a blue dress, but it didn't suit Emma as well, and the pink looked best on her, so they went with pink. Which would make sense for why she wears pink in the films, like Daniel and Rupert being well suited for blue and red, respectively.
On Monday, the series author and final Potter authority, confirmed that her text never indicated Hermione's race and that she "loves" the idea of a black Hermione. "Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione. "
People of this mixed parentage are called half-bloods; magical people with any Muggle ancestry on the one side or the other are half-bloods as well. The most prominent Muggle-born in the Harry Potter series is Hermione Granger, who was born to Muggles of undisclosed names.
