In his final scene, actor Stephen Graham shows off the glowing blue eyes of seemingly possessed police officer Pat Mulligan. Mulligan just so happens to share his name with the first host of the Toxin symbiote in Marvel's numerous Venom spinoff comics.
Blue Symbiote (2) (Agony): In the comics Agony was one of the symbiotes forcibly spawned from Venom alongside several others by the Life Foundation.
During the fight, Mulligan is apparently killed by Barrison, but absorbs a piece of one of the symbiotes, which later revives him and causes his eyes to glow blue.
Toxin. The other symbiote alongside Riot, Scream and Phage is a blue and gold one, which - as initially shown in the Venom trailer - was set loose on unwitting test subjects.
Toxin is an offspring of Carnage, who made his first appearance in the 2004 series Venom vs. Carnage. After Carnage births Toxin in that series, the newborn symbiote supplants itself in Mulligan, similar to what we see in the film.
The bond between the Carnage symbiote and Kasady was stronger than the bond between Brock and the Venom symbiote. Cletus Kasady was also a serial killer and thought of as insane. As a result, Carnage is far more violent, powerful, and deadly than Venom.
The symbiote that would be known as Toxin was the spawn of the Carnage Symbiote. Upon being born, Toxin bonded with police officer Patrick Mulligan and the two attempted to be heroes until Pat's sudden death. After being removed from Mulligan, Toxin was forced to bond with Eddie Brock and fight Venom.
Early on in his career as a "lethal protector," Venom was captured by Carlton Drake's Life Foundation and had five samples of his costume taken and turned into new symbiotes. Four of those symbiotes - Riot, Lasher, Phage and Agony - are grouped together here.
They rapidly age the symbiotes and pair them to people: Scream (yellow, female), Agony (pink, female), Lasher (green, male), Riot (grey, male) and Phage (orange, male).
The son of Carnage, Toxin, was believed to be the most powerful symbiote ever created. The raw power of Toxin was so great that he was feared even by the King in Black, Knull, creator and leader of the symbiotes.
Originating as an offspring of Venom, Carnage is much more powerful than its parent symbiote because of the symbiotes' biology, and is in many ways a darker version of him.
But why does Venom lick the TV with Peter's face on it? Besides communicating the apparent fact that Venom wants to eat brains — and Peter's looks tasty to Venom — Venom's hunger appears to be proof of an intrinsic attraction to Peter Parker.
The Toxin symbiote has a long and troubled history in the Marvel universe as both a villain and an anti-hero.
As Toxin grew stronger, Venom and Carnage planned to destroy it together, yet Mulligan hoped to use his powers for good. Eventually, the symbiote and its host came to an agreement that allowed them to co-exist somewhat peacefully. Toxin is a red and black symbiote.
Agony is largely dark purple with dark pink mix symbiote, it grants its host with claws, a blade along the fur end of the forearms, fangs and fairly long prehensile hairs, as well as manipulate its body into various form.
Diego would later be killed by a powerless Eddie Brock, when the latter was eliminating the "evil" of the symbiotes from the Earth. The character was introduced as the fusion of four symbiotes (Lasher, Phage, Agony and Riot), bonded to prison guard Scott Washington.
Chaos is the Symbiote Overlord on the symbiote planet and the Commanding Officer of the symbiote army that invaded earth. He is the epitome of evil and chaos (hence his name 'Chaos'). He was overthrown on his home planet and thrown in the deepest pits of Tartarus, the worst and the most horrifying prison in the galaxy.
Edward Brock, also known as Venom, is a supporting antagonist in the 2006 miniseries Marvel Zombies. Eddie along with almost every other hero and villain became a flesh eating zombie after Sentry of Earth-91126 came on their dimension.
In the comics, Scream is the leader of the symbiote crew. She has powers similar to Venom and Spider-Man, such as wall-crawling and web-swinging.
The Hybrid Symbiote was considered the strongest of the Venom-spawn created at the Life Foundation. It was created after the Symbiote Scream destroyed the other four Life Foundation creations Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.
Eddie BrockVenom. Bonding with an unearthly symbiote, Eddie Brock is given amazing powers and an unstable psyche.
Much like Drake, Riot has a hatred for humanity and seeks to bring the symbiotes to Earth, though unlike Drake, who does it because he wants to evolve humanity in his own empathy-free way, Riot seems to do it solely because of his own bigotry against them.
Both Venom and Carnage feared the potential power of Toxin, establishing him as a force to be reckoned with. The character was created by writer Peter Milligan and artist Clayton Crain.
