In season two, episode four, Maddy finally tells Nate she's actually in love with him, and she goes on to reveal that he tells her he loves her and even asked her to have children with him while fighting in the hot tub at her birthday party.
Worried Jules will report his father to the police and ruin his life, Nate starts flirting with Jules through a dating app in order to get nude photos to blackmail her with.
Cassie believed in fairytales, and every time her bubble was poked, she would turn furious. She knew the kind of person Nate was, but she simply wanted to be loved by him no matter what. She gave up on her friendship and her family to be with him.
In season one episode four: “Shook Ones Pt II,” Nate exhibits controlling behavior, telling his girlfriend Maddy what to wear and how to behave. When she refuses to comply, he becomes aggressive, slamming her into a wall and choking her for her disobedience.
A Turning Point at the Carnival
During their confrontation, Nate violently choked Maddy, leaving bruises on her neck.
In private, things aren't much better: Nate threatens Cassie and yells at her when they're alone. Similar to how Cal's abuse of Nate breeds Nate's abuse of others, Maddy and Cassie's familial abuses allow for them to be the brunt of his mistreatment.
The secret in question? Nate knows all about Cal's sexual encounters with dozens of people (including Nate's classmate Jules) and that he's been illegally filming said encounters.
At his freshman formal, he attempted to finger Rue Bennett on the dance floor without her consent. On a family photo hanging on his house's wall, a third, unknown, younger child can be seen alongside Nate and Aaron.
Less obvious, though, is the way Nate's sexuality and his transphobia collide: he's attracted to Jules but can't accept that he is attracted to a transgender woman.
Their relationship started very positively: Nate gave Maddy flowers every day and really loved her, which Maddy reciprocated. Maddy made sure she was a perfect girl for Nate: imitating sex workers in videos selected to please him and pretending to be a virgin. In return, Nate would stuff her with gifts like fur coats.
After Nate and Maddy get into a fight, Nate pushes her up against a trailer and chokes her, leaving some pretty nasty bruises on her neck.
It is also worth mentioning that Cassie got pregnant in Season 1 of Euphoria. She found out that she was pregnant with McKay's baby and eventually decided to have an abortion.
Rue doesn't make it to the toilet.
Of course, it's about something much deeper than that, but it's symbolized by the point she gets to wherein her bladder might burst. She is in a deep depression over her relationship with Jules, and in general, the circumstances of her life at the moment.
And we watched a menacing drug dealer with a tattooed face force Rue to lick liquid fentanyl off a knife. As Rue slipped into the drug's coma-like high, it looked liked the dealer was going to demand repayment with sex, until a good-guy drug dealer offered up the cash.
Laurie is a villain and a real antagonist. She preys on Rue when she's at her most vulnerable, because she knows she'll have a use for someone like Rue. She's the kind of person to really fear: an insidious, unassuming predator. There's no shortage of threats in the world of Euphoria.

Back in Season 1, Nate started catfishing Jules on a dating app, when he found out that she slept with his dad. He initially cons Jules into sending him nude photos of herself so he can use them against her in the future and protect his father.
So Fez beat up Nate in retaliation for putting his drug dealing business, livelihood, and life on the line.
