Neither. Godzilla's ancestry has never been fully explored, though in other media (like the Gojira-kun game) he is shown to have a father and mother. Dagon, aka Species 5146_ADAM, might be the Legendary Godzilla's ancestor, or relative, but it isn't confirmed.
