James VI and I, Prince of Scotland, is the son of Queen
Lord Darnley: Lord Darnley was Mary's husband and the father of her child. The two met on a flower field while Mary was on holiday.
1567-1625) Born in Edinburgh Castle on 19 June 1566, James was the only son of Mary, Queen of Scots and her second husband, Lord Darnley.
The marriage produced no children, and may never even have been consummated, possibly due to Francis's illnesses or undescended testicles.
Petals rain down on them as all applaud. In the final scene of the episode, Mary and Francis are making passionate love. After reminiscing of their childhood, Mary announces her pregnancy to Francis in The Lamb and the Slaughter.
Francis confronted Mary to why she left and she told him of Nostradamus' prophecy. He found it to be superstition. She eventually ruined her relationship with Francis once she made Henry change the line of succession; she would marry Bash instead. Francis heartbroken and betrayed by Mary, leaves the French Court.
Spouses: Mary, Queen of Scots was married three times: to Francis, king of France (1558–60), Lord Darnley (1565–67), and the Earl of Bothwell (1567–78).
Mary and Darnley consummated their engagment soon after agreeing to it. Mary discovered she was pregnant with Darnley's child but kept it a secret for a while. Mary had her second wedding to Lord Darnley.
After eighteen and a half years in captivity, Mary was found guilty of plotting to assassinate Elizabeth in 1586 and was beheaded the following year at Fotheringhay Castle. Mary's life and subsequent execution established her in popular culture as a romanticised historical character.
She decides to marry Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, because of his bloodline and ties to England. The two have sex before they get married and Mary becomes pregnant with their only son and child, James.
Despite James' pleading ("We both have what is rightfully hers!") and Elizabeth's clear struggle with the choice at hand ("I cannot have her blood on my hands and I cannot let her go"), in the end, Mary is beheaded, the end we all knew was coming when the series began in 2012.
Catherine told Francis that his fate had changed; so he could finally be with Mary and reclaim the throne. Francis' deeply cared about his mother and was grateful that she had always supported him. Although, Catherine poisoned him so she could become regent of her younger son and Francis's brother Charles.
It also caused a rift between her and Mary, but they succeeded at pushing past it. Lola's spunk earned her the interest of a powerful noble, Stéphane Narcisse, whom she later married and thus became a member of the House of Narcisse. In order to save her queen, Lola made a choice that proved to be her undoing.
And so, with the knowledge that Nostradamus' original premonition about Francis' death was wrong, Mary slipped into a gorgeous wedding gown and sashayed down the aisle, where she officially became Mrs. Francis Reign.
Lola found an unforeseen friend in Queen Elizabeth for a while, until she betrayed Elizabeth on what she thought was an order from her Queen. Lady Lola was thereafter beheaded for treason.
Darnley had betrayed Mary by plotting against her, and betrayed himself with his violent and angry behaviour – but when the lords wanted him out of the way, he became the victim.
John Philip is the illegitimate son born to his father, King Francis, and his mother, Lady Lola. He has been given lands and titles, including Baron of Velay. He lost his father to a gang of Scottish assassins and his mother was decapitated not long after, making him an orphan. He is now being raised at French court.
Francis seeks revenge in Mercy. As Francis tries to find Mary's rapists, he decides to tell her the truth about how he was the one who killed Henry and of Narcisse blackmailing him. This strains their relationship even further and later on, Mary manages to kill her rapists with Conde's help.
However, Francis grants Lola and Narcisse his blessing to marry, as long as they do as soon as possible. Their wedding is a quick yet lavish affair, attended by the King and Queen of France, as well as other courtiers and nobles.}}
Francis and Mary later went on to become king and queen of France, and Mary returned to Scotland only when Francis died of an infection. His death left Mary a widow at the age of 18. Five years after the death of her first husband came Mary's second marriage, to her cousin, Henry Stuart, Earl of Darnley.
Jean is the illegitimate son of Francis II and Lola Narcisse.
Historically, Francis died on December 5, 1560 at the age of only 16 after suffering complications from an ear infection.
Clarissa was a recurring character in the first season and a guest character in the second season of Reign. She was portrayed by Katie Boland. She was a strange and almost feral young woman who hides in the shadows.
