Asclepius, one of the band of the mythic Greek heroes known as the Argonauts, was expert in all facets of drugs and poisons. Eventually, myth had him evolving into the snake God, and so it was that the snake became the eternal symbol of medicine and toxicology (Tsoucalas, 2004). Figure 17.1.
Glycon (Ancient Greek: Γλύκων Glýkōn, gen: Γλύκωνος Glýkōnos), also spelled Glykon, was an ancient snake god. He had a large and influential cult within the Roman Empire in the 2nd century, with contemporary satirist Lucian providing the primary literary reference to the deity.
Their most remarkable type of prey, however, is other snakes! California Kingsnakes are “kings” because they hunt and devour various snake species, including other kingsnakes and even rattlesnakes – they are immune to rattlesnake venom!

In Celtic polytheism, Sirona was a goddess worshipped predominantly in East Central Gaul and along the Danubian limes. A healing deity, she was associated with healing springs; her attributes were snakes and eggs. She was sometimes depicted with Apollo Grannus or Apollo Borvo.

Snake Devil Contract: Akane has a contract with the Snake Devil that allows her to summon it at will through the following commands: "Swallow it whole" ( 丸 まる 飲 の み, Marunomi?): Akane fully summons the Snake Devil to absorb the target. She used this ability to devour the Ghost Devil completely besides its head.
Kadru is best known as the mother of the nagas, the race of serpents. The Nāgas: Sons: Kaliya, Takshaka, Shesha, Vasuki, Karkotaka etc. Legends of Kadru detail her relationship with her elder sister Vinata, who was also one of Kashyapa's many wives.
In Christian tradition, the "ancient serpent" is commonly identified with the Genesis serpent and as Satan.
Python, in Greek mythology, a huge serpent that was killed by the god Apollo at Delphi either because it would not let him found his oracle, being accustomed itself to giving oracles, or because it had persecuted Apollo's mother, Leto, during her pregnancy.
King snakes are native to North America and have evolved into the strongest constrictors in the world, with the ability to exert 180 mm Hg of pressure. That's about 60 mm Hg higher than the healthy blood pressure of a human being. With such force, king snakes aren't taking their victims' breath away.
Most recognizable for her locks of snakes, Medusa was the daughter of ancient chthonic deities of the sea.
The killer of the most people
The saw-scaled viper (Echis carinatus) may be the deadliest of all snakes, since scientists believe it to be responsible for more human deaths than all other snake species combined.
The friendliest snake in the world is the corn snake. They would be voted “best personality” in the yearbook of snakes. Corn snakes are very friendly and love to be handled. Because they are easy to take care of they are one of the most popular pet snakes.
Nala Damajanti was the stage name of a late 19th-century snake charmer who toured with P.T. Barnum's circus and performed at the famed Folies Bergère in Paris. French sources identify her as Emilie Poupon (1861–?) of Nantey, Jura Department, France.
