The game's two most fearsome foes are the male “Armsy” and the spider-like female “Virginia,” both fleshy beasts that essentially each look like several human-monster hybrids that have been blended together in some nightmarish workshop.
Virginia shows up near the helicopter crash site early in the campaign. Don't attack or kill her. Don't even chase her around. Since Virginia is the so-called "mutant lady" in Sons of the Forest, you might mistake her for a hostile.
The game features two endings: If Eric activates the artifact, he causes the plane to crash and is implied to have found a sacrifice to revive Timmy. One year later, Eric and Timmy have apparently been rescued and are invited onto a talk show to promote Eric's book, which chronicles his experiences on the peninsula.
Mutants (A.k.a Cannibals, Grunts) are a tribal and primitive group and communicate with grumbles and growls. "Effigies" seem to mark cannibal territories and scouting vicinity. They seem to wear their trinkets and jewelry for some cultural purposes or to indicate rank.
Creepy mutants are ferociously large and dangerous. They appear to be made of multiple bodies smashed together into a gross combination. Some have several arms (Armsy), some have several legs (Virginia), and some are just fat and overgrown (Cowman).
Sanity goes down when killing an enemy, chopping limbs, a lot when eating an enemy and slowly while in caves. Sanity goes up when sleeping, listening to music, eating fresh non limb meat and slowly while restoring energy on bench.
Like Armsy, Virginia is suggested to have been created by Sahara, using the Resurrection Obelisk, resulting in her mutations. In the Orientation Slideshow, Virginia is called "Subject 37B5", and her age being twelve at the time of her mutations.
It is also possible to "tame" the cannibals (Have them not attack you/be more docile). This is done by taking something with decent block and blocking their attacks, until they eventually show signs of neutrality towards the player.
Red paint can have an effect on all cannibals in the area, causing them all to kneel. However, if the player starts attacking, the cannibals will become hostile again. Additionally, kneeling cannibals will rise up after a short while if not killed, and either become hostile again or go back to kneeling.
After Mathew Cross does so, he places Timmy inside the Resurrection Obelisk, resulting in Timmy's life being taken and Megan being resurrected. He is left inside the machine afterwards. Timmy's body is later found by his father, Eric, who is emotionally distraught at the sight of his dead son.
Dr. Mathew Cross, also known as Matt and the Red Man or the Red Cannibal, is the primary (though mostly unseen) antagonist of The Forest.
If Eric instead chooses to shut down the obelisk, upon leaving the Artifact Cave he will witness the plane flying off safely toward the south. After watching it depart, he will mournfully burn his photo of Timmy before resuming his survival routine.
The supernatural hallucinations overtake her, causing her to commit suicide right as Jess makes it out unscathed. The expected script is flipped on the sisters as the put-together one, Sara, dies and the unhinged one, Jess, lives.
Listed from weakest to strongest are Skinny Mutants, Regular Mutants, Pale Mutants, Painted Mutants and Masked Mutants.
Sluggy or The Blob, named after its sheer size, distorted features, and similarity to a giant slug, is an enemy in Sons of the Forest. As a creepy mutant, it appears to be within a bunker.
Though all fires attract cannibals and mutants during the night, the bonfire is by a very wide margin the best at attracting them, causing droves to approach from a large distance around. Only light a bonfire if you want a fight, as nights are considerably more dangerous while one is lit.
Pale Cannibals, also known as Grey Cannibals or Cave Cannibals, are large cannibals with dark blue/grey skin, with completely white eyes, no body hair of any kind, no clothing or adornments. They were included in the initial v0. 01 release of The Forest.
There are only four types of effigies that you can build: small, large, arm, and custom effigies. They help keep some cannibals away from a particular place since the cannibals will become scared of these structures.
It does absolutely nothing.
To befriend Virginia in Sons of the Forest, you must prove that you are trustworthy through the following actions when she's nearby: Press "G" to holster any items in your hands. Calmly continue with any tasks without approaching her or holding a weapon.
Peaceful Mode is technically a difficulty setting. It can be chosen when starting out in Sons of the Forest, and significantly lessens enemy spawns. All cannibals and mutant enemies are removed from the game, however there are some threats that will remain.
No, Kelvin cannot fight in Sons of the Forest. There is no way to give Kelvin a weapon, so he'll simply try to evade attacks during combat. If you're wondering why Kelvin can't fight, it's because the crash made him deaf and put him in a bit of a daze.
Timmy, or Tim, LeBlanc is a side character seen in Sons of the Forest. He wears an all green outfit and has a scar similar to that found in The Forest. Timmy is a fully modeled entity that can interact with the game world. Similarly to Kelvin, he possesses a blue tracker.
To help the players, the developer Endtime Games has provided two virtual companions namely Kevin and Virginia who provide unconditional support in need. Virginia is a three-legged, three-armed mutant lady who can fight alongside the players and aid them in various ways like hunting, gathering food items etc.
