What makes Homelander such a uniquely threatening figure in The Boys is the fact that he is not just "evil Superman." Homelander is scary because he's grounded in reality. He is the exact kind of prejudice-fueled public figure that is seen all too often in real life, but with laser eyes and super strength.
Warning!
In The Boys comic book series, there's little question that Homelander is the most terrifying Supe in the world, but even he feared the real villain of the story: James Sitwell.
Hughie. Hughie certainly is the most good-hearted character among all (considering that a huge majority of them are either deeply rotten or have vague, ambiguous morals). He cares about people and not just the people he loves.
During the fight they fell to a lower platform; the Butcher broke his neck and was paralyzed by falling. Instead of being imprisoned as a paraplegic, he persuaded Hughie to finish him off, falsely claiming that he had already killed his family. Enraged, Hughie drove a metal spike into his chest, killing him.
Homelander's Stan Edgar Fear Nearly Cost Him the Soldier Boy Fight. This blatant rejection from his father figure also made the leader of The Seven much weaker when he faced off against Butcher and Soldier Boy – Homelander's real father. Homelander did a great job of hiding his feelings from Stan Edgar.
So, Stan Edgar realizes that Homelander's just a big kid and that he never got the validation that he needed from his father. And so it becomes very, very tricky, he understands that. So he needs to be validated by another man who says, yeah, you're powerful and good and all that.
HUGHIE. The good guy in The Boys was a man named "Wee" Hughie Campbell. He is a guy full of self-doubt. Honestly, that is the only thing that is wrong with him.
As her superhero name suggests, Starlight can absorb electricity and send it out in a blast of light. That's enough to blind her opponents temporarily or knock them out. She's also stronger and less likely to get hurt than others.
However, Noir's fear of Soldier Boy is surprisingly bigger than his loyalty to Homelander. When Noir escaped from Vought due to the news of Soldier Boy returning, Homelander was genuinely distraught over the news as he believed Noir always had his back.
The grand finale of The Boys comic book series confirms that there is only one hero who is actually stronger than Homelander, and that's his (even more) evil clone, Black Noir. Created to be an upgraded version of Homelander, Black Noir proves his superiority in the final battle between these two deranged powerhouses.
While The Boys' “evil Superman” Homelander was the show's most odious villain for a long time, Soldier Boy soon proved he might be even worse than Homelander. This made it all the more surprising when The Boys season 3 revealed that, as a first-generation supe, Soldier Boy was Homeland's absent father.
Originally Answered: Is Soldier Boy more powerful than Homelander in the boys? No. Homelander is more powerful, but Soldier Boy is nearly on par. Though maybe his radiation blasts are more powerful than Homelander.
Starr explained that the reason why he believes Homelander is the weakest character, despite physically being the strongest, is because of his desire to be loved. Being loved unconditionally loved was something Homelander never had growing up, which is why he craves it from the public.
Superhuman Durability: Homelander is very resistant to physical harm and the most resilient of the Seven. He is not only completely bulletproof, but also unfazed by explosions. Vought had to keep hydrogen bombs strapped to him, since that was the only thing that they had that could possibly kill him.
Sure, after triple-teaming with Hughie, Soldier Boy and yellow-eyed Billy Butcher pin Homelander down and technically defeat him. But their failure to kill him further hammers down the idea that Homelander is no "cheap knockoff" of Soldier Boy.
In the comics, Homelander doesn't really have any weaknesses either. This allows him to get away with terrorizing people and rampant murder. That said, Homelander does end up dying in the comics, though it isn't Billy Butcher or the other Boys who kill him. It's actually Black Noir who kills Homelander.
Stan Edgar is Homelander's most powerful enemy who has never had superpowers. As the former CEO of Vought International, Edgar was unafraid to stand his ground and make the decisions that he thought were best for the company.
However, Starlight does not die in the comics when the story finally comes to a close. She is fully prepared to die trying to defeat Homelander, but Queen Maeve actually saves her from his wrath. This results in Homelander killing Queen Maeve, and Black Noir later is the one responsible for killing The Seven's leader.
While he loyally served the Boys, Frenchie was killed by Billy Butcher in his gambit to launch a genocidal attack on everyone with Compound V in their system. With the Female by his side, Frenchie dies in an explosion so he can't stop Butcher from carrying out his master stroke.
