With Bane dead, leadership of his Sith Order was transferred to Darth Zannah, the new Dark Lord of the Sith.
The New Sith, also known as the New Sith Empire, the Reorganized Sith Empire or simply the Sith Empire, was a revived faction of the Sith Order that existed throughout the millennia-long Draggulch Period.
While many Sith Lords are mentioned, only six are detailed in canon: Bane, Plagueis, Sidious, Maul, Tyranus, and Vader. In addition to these Sith Lords, there are a number of other fallen Jedi, apprentices, and dark Force users. Spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens ahead.
A Sith Lord with the ability to prevent death and create life, Plagueis is the mentor of Sheev Palpatine/Darth Sidious, who, in accordance to the Sith's Rule of Two, eventually betrays Plagueis by murdering him in his sleep, taking his place as Sith Master.
The infighting eventually led to the defeat of their order at the Mid Rim planet Ruusan in 1032 BBY, as the Jedi were able to all but destroy the weakened Sith. Bane was the sole survivor of the Jedi-Sith War, as he organized the eradication of all the other Sith.
As the first Dark Lord of the Sith, Ajunta Pall founded the first Sith Empire and expanded it onto other worlds. The Sith took over the planet Ziost and created it as their capital and as Pall's new home. Pall eventually died after serving the Empire for many decades, but his Empire lived on.
Darth Sidious, publicly known as Sheev Palpatine from Naboo, became the Dark Lord of The Sith after betraying and murdering his Sith Master Darth Plagueis. Sidious was the Dark Lord of the Sith during the last years of the Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire.
At the same time, he had the Jedi systematically executed throughout the galaxy by Order 66, completing the Sith plan that lasted for over a millennium. Plagueis' apprentice ultimately became the Emperor of the first Galactic Empire. One of the few Jedi to survive was a Padawan named Ferren Barr.
Mission to Mathas. Padawan Windu was trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Cyslin Myr.
His mother discovered his sensitivity to the Force, and she gave him away to the Bith Sith Lord Darth Tenebrous, who trained Damask—now Plagueis—in ways of the Sith. The apprentice murdered Tenebrous in 67 BBY.
Undermined by constant infighting and ruined by the last war against the Jedi, the Sith were rendered all but extinct with the exception of one; Darth Bane survived the ancient order's destruction and passed his knowledge to a single apprentice, Darth Zannah, before being entombed on Korriban, which became known as ...
1. Darth Sidious (Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace) Truly, the most powerful Sith Lord was Darth Sidious, better known in his public persona of Chancellor (later Emperor) Palpatine.
This use of a Force power generally reserved for the Sith is foreshadowing for the movies biggest twist: Rey herself is a Palpatine, born of Sith blood and heir to the throne of her grandfather's Final Order.
Many throughout Sith history saw themselves, or were viewed, as this chosen one of legend: King Adas, Darth Andeddu, Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Darth Malgus, Darth Ruin, Darth Bane, Darth Tenebrous, Darth Plagueis, and Darth Sidious.
All too often, squabbling Sith in their bid for power upended carefully laid plans. After the Sith were decimated by the Jedi Knights of a thousand years ago, Bane enacted the Sith rule of two: there would be only two active Sith at one time -- a Dark Lord to embody the power, and an apprentice to crave it.
Legend had it that Yoda—a Jedi who became Grand Master—was trained by N'Kata Del Gormo. A Force-sensitive Hysalrian, N'Kata Del Gormo was trained in the ways of the Force and achieved the rank of Master within the Jedi Order.
As Anakin's powers grew, Mace Windu's respect for Anakin grew, but his trust never did.

But this rivalry was frustrating for many reasons. In true Samuel L. Jackson form, Mace Windu's character was never timid with his skepticism or disapprovals when it came to both the Senate and Anakin becoming a Jedi.
In non-canon material it is said that Palpatine had a number of concubines and never took a wife in fear that he would produce a legitimate heir. One of these non-canon concubines was Roganda Ismaren, a former Jedi who survived Order 66, and lived for a time at Palpatine's side.
The child who would be remembered as Revan was eventually discovered to be Force-sensitive and was accepted into the Jedi Order. The Jedi Master Kreia claimed to have been his first teacher in the ways of the Force.
In 2017, Marvel released Star Wars: Darth Maul, a 5-issue prequel series centered on Maul before the events of The Phantom Menace. The comic details upon Maul's training under Darth Sidious, and how he was manipulated into hating the Jedi for leading the Sith to near-extinction.
Vader held respect for Tarkin which is clearly shown and the only case in which Tarkin outranked Vader would be the case in which Vader was in the Death Star or within Tarkin's Oversector which he likely was as Tarkin was Grand Moff of the Outer Rim Oversector, the largest one.
After the final death of Palpatine in 11 ABY, Xandel Carivus proclaimed himself the Emperor, but was soon killed by Kir Kanos. Under the Imperial Remnant, the role of Imperial Head of State was assumed by Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet.
