Ganon is the main antagonist in The Legend of Zelda series and is presented as the embodiment of evil. He usually appears as the final boss at the end of each game.
Ganon appears as the final boss in over ten different entries in the Zelda franchise, each one more menacing than the last. Not only that, but Ganon may be one of the few villains in the franchise to defeat Link.
Ganondorf has appeared as Ganon in multiple The Legend of Zelda entries, and the original Ganondorf that was fused with the Demon King is featured in Tears of the Kingdom. Link faces off against this enemy in the new title.
The Legend of Zelda's Link is the eternal hero and good guy incarnate. But really, he's done some pretty evil things throughout his adventures. The Legend of Zelda's Link has always been associated with being the conventional and ideal video game hero.
Ganon describes the beast version, and can be used to refer to both Ganon the beast and Ganondorf the Gerudo king. Despite Ganon sometimes being used as a nickname for Ganondorf, Ganondorf is solely used to refer to the Gerudo version of the antagonist before he transforms into the beast form.
Ganondorf successfully stole the Triforce from the Sacred Realm but his evil heart broke it into three pieces, with Ganondorf keeping the Triforce of Power. In the final boss fight, Link and Ganondorf battle at Ganon's Castle, but after Ganondorf's defeat, he transforms into his beast form Ganon.
By the time Link wakes up in the future, Ganon's rule is ironclad. Interestingly, Ganondorf isn't particularly strong otherwise. He's certainly the strongest character in Ocarina of Time, but he's fairly tame compared to later Ganons and Ganondorfs.
Zelda has feelings for Link, and their relationship is rooted deeply in childhood. Forget that The Minish Cap was once the series' origin point; its most interesting feature is developing a romance between Link and Zelda long before Skyward Sword.
1 STRONGEST: Dark Link
He is made of shadow magic but has all of the same powers and strength as Link himself. With this in mind, Dark Link's power rivals that of the Hero of Twilight and the Hero of Time.
Although romance isn't new for Link and Zelda, it wasn't until Skyward Sword when the franchise would finally decide to give the two a genuine, undeniable love story.
Tingle is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series. First appearing in Majora's Mask, he has since appeared in several installments.
However, from Skyward Sword, we know that Ganondorf is an incarnation of Demise's hatred of the gods of Hyrule, and in Breath of the Wild, we can see the hatred and fear in his eyes for Zelda when she prepares to seal him away as Dark Beast Ganon at the climax.
Dubbed the King of Evil, Ganondorf (also known as Ganon) is supposedly the reincarnation of hatred, malice, and pure evil. His goals usually involve attempting to take over Hyrule or to destroy Hyrule, depending on the game.
Ganondorf is the purely evil antagonist of The Legend of Zelda games, and there is plenty that gamers might not know about this Prince of Darkness. Every good video game needs a good villain, and Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda games is just about as evil as they come.
The Adventure of Link
When activated, Link transforms into a Fairy. While in Fairy form, Link gains the power of flight, which is required to traverse a handful of locations in the game including the cave leading to the Island Palace, Palace on the Sea, and Three-Eye Rock Palace.
Although it may seem like Link himself is reincarnating, it's actually the spirit of courage, otherwise known as the Spirit of the Hero. This seems to hold true for the other two as well. Because of this, Link has no memories of his previous reincarnations, and each game feels like a 'new' Link.
Aryll is Link's younger sister in The Wind Waker.
Although Link is depicted as a male character, Aonuma said that he wanted him to be gender neutral. He said that in Ocarina of Time: "I wanted the player to think 'Maybe Link is a boy or a girl'. If you saw Link as a guy, he'd have more of a feminine touch.
The official Prima Guide says that Link is supposed to be 17, and Eiji Aonuma backs that up. However, during a later interview with Nintendo Dream, Aonuma agreed with the interviewer that Link was actually 16.
1 The Ghost Of The Demon King: Phantom Ganon
Thematically, Phantom Ganon is one of the game's scariest enemies, as it makes it seem as though Ganon is lurking in every corner of Hyrule. He's dripping in Gloom, which can make fighting him difficult, and he has a devastating attack where he flies at you with his weapon.
Ganondorf in general is a man known for his cruelty and ruthlessness who holds a power-hungry desire of conquering Hyrule. Being the reincarnation of Demise's hatred, Ganondorf embodies the very characteristics of his evil.
Running this fight over and over a hundred times, Ganondorf would certainly score a few victories. But, when considering Dracula's absurd regenerative abilities, it would take more than just a few hits from a holy weapon to finish him off.
