In the movie, we know her primarily by her actual name,
Shriek is an antagonist from Marvel Comics. She is a major enemy of Spider-Man and also the girlfriend and "wife" of Carnage.
A fresh trailer of Venom: Let There Be Carnage has just been released, giving fans a first glimpse of Naomie Harris' new banshee-like villain.
She became a drug dealer, which exposed her to situations that ultimately damaged her sanity; namely, being shot in the head by a police officer, and being put in Cloak's Darkforce Dimension, which awakened Shriek's latent mutant abilities.
She literally plays on a person's worst fears. And because symbiote-powered heroes like Venom are especially vulnerable to sound, Shriek is more than a match for Eddie Brock. Though as Carnage eventually learned, the same applies to him as well.
What's clear is that Shriek is a mutant and her powers focus on sound manipulation. Those powers we activated in the comics when was put in Cloak's (of Cloak and Dagger) Darkforce Dimension (as revealed in Spider-Man Vol. 1 #36, July 1993).
Originating as an offspring of Venom, Carnage is much more powerful than its parent symbiote because of the symbiotes' biology, and is in many ways a darker version of him.
Because the symbiotes are sensitive to sound — and Shriek's ability is shrieking violently — she becomes a hindrance to Carnage. That creates a divide between Carnage and his host Cletus, who loves Shriek and doesn't want her to get hurt.
As the fight with Venom reached the bell tower, Venom manages to rescue Anne in time and provokes Shriek to use her powers again; her sonic blast causes both symbiotes to separate from their hosts, but then Shriek falls to her death below as her scream dislodged the bell and crushes her.
During the fight, Mulligan is apparently killed by Barrison, but absorbs a piece of one of the symbiotes, which later revives him and causes his eyes to glow blue.
After a prolonged struggle between the two, Shriek was defeated by Ori and crashed into The Weeping Ridge. With what remained of her strength, she flew back to her old nest in the Silent Woods, where she sat herself beneath the wings of her parents, almost as if to allow them to embrace her, and then passed away.
Dylan Brock is the son of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying. When Anne bonded to the Venom symbiote, she somehow became pregnant with Dylan. He was created by the symbiotes in order to destroy their god Knull and sever him from the hive-mind.
Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout. The symbiote amplified his psychotic nature making him even less mentally stable than he had been previously, and therefore even more dangerous.
The bond between the Carnage symbiote and Kasady was stronger than the bond between Brock and the Venom symbiote. Cletus Kasady was also a serial killer and thought of as insane. As a result, Carnage is far more violent, powerful, and deadly than Venom.
Batman destroyed his sound masker with a batarang, canceling its muting effect. Consequently, Shriek was overwhelmed by the surrounding sound amplified by his helmet, leaving him permanently deaf.
The Scream symbiote appears in the Spider-Man series finale "Maximum Venom", voiced by Meg Donnelly. This version is the older sister of the Venom symbiote who was created by Knull to serve as a member of the Symbiote sisters.
Scream was first introduced in 1993 in Venom: Lethal Protector #4 alongside her siblings. They came about after Eddie Brock's symbiote was separated from him. She has the same abilities as the other symbiotes, but can also use her hair as a weapon or tendril to grab things.
Cletus was enraged upon learning that Eddie's exposé had gotten him sentenced for execution and Eddie was his first target after he bonded with Carnage. Eddie was also remorseful for the way he hurt Cletus, as he apologized to him in the climax for disregarding his inner pain.
One of the most tragic and weirdest Venom stories is how the symbiote made Eddie Brock pregnant, and this pregnancy created more chaos than Carange.
Carnage barely put up a fight. Pieces of the symbiote were on him, but he didn't fully transform or try to defend himself. Venom simply pulled the symbiote off of him and ate it, becoming stronger.
For example, Venom gave birth to seven "children", and its first child Carnage had three. senses that extend over its entire surface, enabling hosts to "see" what is behind them or otherwise not in their line of sight (like a Spider-Sense).
While captive, the Venom symbiote was forced to give birth to five offspring - Riot, Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Scream - who were bonded to PMCs hired by the Life Foundation. When corrupt corporation Scarmore Inc.
Patrick Mulligan was a New York City Police officer until he met Carnage, who turned him into the first grandson of Venom, Toxin.
Shriek is the main antagonist of the 2020 indie game Ori and the Will of the Wisps. She is a terrifying mutant owl with most of her body covered in layers of stone and bone.
As mentioned above, Venom 3 has been confirmed, but we're still waiting for an official release date. Sony has a busy couple of years ahead with its Spider-Man universe with the releases of Kraven the Hunter (January 13, 2023), Madame Web (July 7, 2023) and El Muerto (January 12, 2024) already confirmed.
