In the comics, Patrick Mulligan also becomes Toxin, the third biggest symbiote in the Marvel Universe. Toxin is an offspring of Carnage, who made his first appearance in the 2004 series Venom vs. Carnage.
Toxin. The Toxin symbiote spawned from Carnage, who had hoped to kill its offspring (a Venom family lineage that now spanned a thousand others symbiotes). Toxin bonded with NYPD officer Patrick Mulligan, but since the symbiote was still young, it didn't affect him much.
Toxin is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He has been depicted as a superhero and at times a supervillain.
Toxin. Toxin is the offspring of the Carnage symbiote, which would make it Venom's grandson, if symbiotes abided by human genealogy. Carnage learns about symbiote reproduction from Venom, but then Carnage flees, wanting to kill his offspring before it bonds and matures.
The Toxin symbiote has a long and troubled history in the Marvel universe as both a villain and an anti-hero.
Born from Carnage as the 1000th symbiote in its lineage, "Toxin" was feared to be the strongest and most dangerous of their race by both Carnage and Venom besides Knull. Shortly after being born, the symbiote united with police officer Pat Mulligan.
More Powerful: Toxin
Toxin proved to be so much more powerful than both Carnage and Venom that the two wanted to take him out together, but Spidey, who saw the good beneath the power, helped Mulligan use his symbiote to fight more nefarious versions of his own kind.
Dylan Brock is the son of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying. When Anne bonded to the Venom symbiote, she somehow became pregnant with Dylan.
Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout.
The son of Carnage, Toxin, was believed to be the most powerful symbiote ever created. The raw power of Toxin was so great that he was feared even by the King in Black, Knull, creator and leader of the symbiotes.
Toxin now has a deep hatred for Venom, which coincides with Eddie's dislike of Venom.
3/15 Toxin
It was young, bonded with the police officer Pat Mulligan, and showed the ability to fight as a hero instead of a villain. Toxin has the same powers and abilities as Venom and Carnage, but is stronger than both combined.
The bond between the Carnage symbiote and Kasady was stronger than the bond between Brock and the Venom symbiote. Cletus Kasady was also a serial killer and thought of as insane. As a result, Carnage is far more violent, powerful, and deadly than Venom.
Both Venom and Carnage feared the potential power of Toxin, establishing him as a force to be reckoned with. The character was created by writer Peter Milligan and artist Clayton Crain.
In fact, it is the bonds that Toxin has made with his human hosts that have made him strong enough to stave off Carnage's onslaught, saving both his own body as well as Bren's life.
While the how's and why's of this occurring in Venom: Let There Be Carnage remain frustratingly opaque, Toxin is actually Carnage's son, just as Carnage is Venom's. In the comics, Toxin was the third major symbiote character introduced on the page after Venom and Carnage, first appearing in Venom/Carnage #2 in 2004.
The Venom/Spider-Man feud began years ago due to bad journalism, Spider-Man's heroism, and the mutual hatred of one angry symbiote. Though the Lethal Protector has become an anti-hero since the '90s, Venom is still widely regarded as one of Spider-Man's most well-known and iconic villains.
While in prison, Venom produces an offspring named Carnage. (He reproduces asexually, in case you were wondering.) Venom doesn't tell Eddie about it, and Venom and Eddie escape prison. Once they're gone, Carnage bonds with Cletus.
While captive, the Venom symbiote was forced to give birth to five offspring - Riot, Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Scream - who were bonded to PMCs hired by the Life Foundation. When corrupt corporation Scarmore Inc.
For example, Venom gave birth to seven "children", and its first child Carnage had three. senses that extend over its entire surface, enabling hosts to "see" what is behind them or otherwise not in their line of sight (like a Spider-Sense).
One of the most tragic and weirdest Venom stories is how the symbiote made Eddie Brock pregnant, and this pregnancy created more chaos than Carange.
Toxin would be the 1000th symbiote to be born of their specific line. Carnage was afraid that this genetic position would make his child more powerful than him and as a result, Carnage hated Toxin before he was even born. Venom had a different reason for being concerned.
Early on in his career as a "lethal protector," Venom was captured by Carlton Drake's Life Foundation and had five samples of his costume taken and turned into new symbiotes. Four of those symbiotes - Riot, Lasher, Phage and Agony - are grouped together here.
In the trailer, the Venom symbiote expressed reluctance about fighting him after noticing that Carnage is a “red one,” which suggests that red symbiotes are naturally more powerful than all other members of his species.
