Zoro is related to Kuina as distant cousins and is the descendant of Shimotsuki Ryuma.
Additionally, it should be noted that Shimotsuki Furiko is Zoro's grandmother; making Shimotuski Ushimaru his great-uncle. And as you can already guess, Zoro is confirmed to be a descendant of the Shimotsuki family.

Zoro & Chopper's Strong Bond
Their intricate relationship is more akin to blood brothers. In this type of relationship, the elder brother usually looks out for the younger brother, while the younger uses him as a role model. In other words, Zoro looks out for Chopper, and Chopper looks up to him.
Demon Asura Zoro
Zoro's left eye has glown multiple times throughout the series, most prominently during the Water 7 saga. In fact, Zoro not opening his eye could be him successfully controlling the power and surge of the demon Asura, which he couldn't before.
Zoro wanted to see if he was worthy of Mihawks little knife necklace thing so he threw it it the air (like his cursed sword) and it slashed his eye which meant he still wasn't worthy to wield that knife.

Shimotsuki Koushirou is a master swordsman and was a distant relative as well as the teacher of Roronoa Zoro. He is also the father of the late Shimotsuki Kuina and son of Shimotsuki Kozaburo.
