Anguirus was ultimately killed by Godzilla, but a second individual debuted in the film Destroy All Monsters in 1968. This Anguirus became a friend and ally to Godzilla, loyally fighting alongside him to fend off alien monsters such as King Ghidorah and Gigan.
One of Anguirus' most notable feats outside his film appearances is his victory over Destoroyah in the first issue of the comic series Godzilla: Legends. Anguirus is much less durable than most kaiju. While most firearms leave no permanent damage if they pierce his skin, Genzo's harpoon heavily injured and later killed Anguirus.
A scene in Godzilla: Final Wars of Godzilla destroying Rodan, Anguirus, and King Caesar was not filmed, making Anguirus one of the only five surviving monsters at the end of Final Wars.
