Arthur succumbs to his wound and dies in Merlin's arms, Queen Guinevere becomes the sole ruler of Camelot.
In the Tavola Ritonda, Camelot is abandoned and falls to ruin after the death of Arthur.
In Geoffrey, Arthur passes his crown to his relative Constantine after being mortally wounded by the traitor Mordred in the Battle of Camlann. Geoffrey identifies Gildas' "royal youths" as Mordred's two sons, who, along with their Saxon allies, continue their father's insurrection after his death.
Merlin returns to Camelot to help raise Arthur's baby (and the other children too ofc). Merlin stays there for like a century as the Pendragons' advisor, until the line dies out, and then he does the wandering thing.
The 15th-century Scotichronicon tells that Merlin himself underwent a triple-death, at the hands of some shepherds of the under-king Meldred: stoned and beaten by the shepherds, he falls over a cliff and is impaled on a stake, his head falls forward into the water, and he drowns.
Mordred was the son and nephew of King Arthur from an intimate encounter King Arthur had with his half-sister Morgause, when he did not know they were related. King Arthur was devastated when he learned Morgause was his half-sister.
According to the Great Dragon, Merlin's birth had been prophesied by many cultures. The Druids, for example, referred to him as "Emrys" (The Beginning of the End). Life could be difficult in a village as small and isolated as Ealdor.
King Arthur's messianic return is a mythological motif in the legend of King Arthur, which claims that he will one day return in the role of a messiah to save his people. It is an example of the king asleep in mountain motif. King Arthur was a legendary 6th-century British king.
The wizard creates a green gem out of one of Nimue's tears which, upon dissolving in her mouth, causes her to remember the history between Merlin and herself. Nimue is horrified at how she betrayed Merlin, but Merlin forgives her.
The decision to end the show with Arthur's death
“What we decided to do was to tell the legend how it was in many ways,” Murphy says. “And I suppose we're very sad that Arthur had to die, [but] that is a massive part of the legend.” This was the reason for the final scene, where we see Merlin in the present day.
Guinevere is childless in most stories. The few exceptions of that include Arthur's son named Loholt or Ilinot in Perlesvaus and Parzival (first mentioned in Erec and Enide).
However, Mordred's faith in Arthur and Camelot was shattered after the imprisonment and death of his beloved Kara. Believing that Arthur had betrayed him and metaphorically spat on their friendship, Mordred turned against the king and joined Morgana once more.
In the medieval legends about King Arthur of Britain and his knights, Lancelot is the greatest knight of all. In time, however, Lancelot's love for Guinevere, the king's wife, leads him to betray his king and sets in motion the fatal events that end Arthur's rule.
The game jumps forward several years following Arthur's death at the end of Red Dead Redemption 2's main story, and it's 1906 by the time the epilogue (starring John Marston once again) starts, so a good seven years have passed.
That child was Arthur. Arthur is said to have been born at Tintagel Castle in Cornwall and was taken by Merlin to be raised by Sir Ector. Shortly thereafter civil war broke out in England and Uther Pendragon was killed. When Arthur was a young boy he drew a sword called Caliburn from a stone.
Mordred is often the character that betrays King Arthur, but Queen Guinevere and Lancelot also betray King Arthur as they are having an affair.
Type of Villain
Camelot must come before all else... even you. Uther to Arthur. Uther Pendragon is the overarching antagonist of the BBC series Merlin. He is the father of Arthur and Morgana Pendragon and was the ruler of Camelot up until his death in season 4.
She was devoted to Lancelot (her lover) and her betrayal of her husband created the end of King Arthur's roundtable and the downfall of Camelot. Thomas Malory described Guinevere as 'a true lover' and believed she had a 'good end. '
Morgana catches up with Merlin and Arthur and drives their horses away, but she is killed by Merlin wielding Excalibur. Without horses, Merlin cannot get Arthur to the Isle in time, and the King of Camelot dies in Merlin's arms, after thanking his friend for everything he has done.
It is unknown exactly how old King Arthur was when he died. Most estimations place him between 35 and 50, while some are closer to 75. Part of the issue here is that it is not known exactly when Arthur was born, when he died, or if he was even a historical figure at all.
Arthur died at the hands of Mordred by the shores of Avalon, but, as the Once and Future King, he is destined to one day rise again.
The Battle of Camlann (Welsh: Gwaith Camlan or Brwydr Camlan) is the legendary final battle of King Arthur, in which Arthur either died or was fatally wounded while fighting either alongside or against Mordred, who also perished.
Nimue and Merlin have a very different relationship in the legend. When Nimue and Merlin meet in the fifth episode, she asks the wizard why her mother instructed her to bring him the sword. By the end, viewers learn that not only did he and her mother have a relationship, but Nimue is actually Merlin's daughter.
So, he decided to disguise himself as an old sorcerer, the same one he saw at the Crystal Cave, to lift the sentence off Gwen. Merlin had requested Gaius to make an ageing potion, and upon taking it, he transformed into an older version of himself.
And though Merlin isn't explicitly mentioned much in Harry Potter, he does pop up here and there. He's the reason that the phrase 'Merlins beard' exists (as I mentioned earlier), he's on a Hogwarts portrait, he's on a Chocolate Frog Card, and he's even the founder of an organization called 'The Order of Merlin'.
