The hat sorts him into Gryffindor. Harry's choice of telling the Hat "Not Slytherin" was not just him choosing houses, it was a demonstration of his true persona: he was not someone whose ambition ruled his choices. Harry's choice, interestingly enough, also ruled him out of Ravenclaw.
Albus Severus is the main character in "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." He's the ugly duckling of the family, is sorted into Slytherin, befriends Scorpius Malfoy, and isn't good at magic.
“Or perhaps in Slytherin, you'll make your real friends, those cunning folk use any means, to achieve their ends,” said the Sorting Hat. The Slytherin House is full cunning, ambitious, prideful students who will do what it takes to get their way.
One of the main reasons Dumbledore belongs in Gryffindor and not Slytherin is because he is willing to sacrifice himself for others. Dumbledore fatally injured himself hunting down Horcruxes and even this did not deter him from his fight against Voldemort.
Peter Pettigrew. Peter Pettigrew, (a.k.a. Wormtail), is the only Death Eater known to have been in a House other than Slytherin (Gryffindor) while at Hogwarts.
The only reason Hermione wasn't put in Slytherin is because she's muggleborn. Way to perpetuate Slytherin's elitist mentality, Sorting Hat… A singular trait isn't enough to place you in a house, no matter how dominant it is. Hermione is intelligent, but that doesn't automatically mean she's a Ravenclaw.
He actually asked the Sorting Hat to place him in Hufflepuff, as he was intimidated by Gryffindor's reputation for bravery, but the Sorting Hat didn't agree. They debated it for so long, that he was close to being what is known as a Hatstall, which is a term for any student whose Sorting takes longer than five minutes.
Rowling has stated that she finds Albus the most "interesting" of Harry's children. She thinks Albus is completely different from the rest of the family, who are incidently all Gryffindors. She has also stated that she views Slytherin like the other side of the same (Gryffindor) coin.
And this is why Hermione does not fit into Ravenclaw, since she lacks their creativity of thought. When you also add in her fearlessness and her strong convictions about right and wrong, which are inherently Gryffindor traits, then there was even less of a chance she'd end up wearing blue and bronze.
In the Chamber itself, we see a large statue of a wizard, which Harry presumes is Salazar Slytherin. We also meet Tom Riddle, who is, as it turns out, the heir of Slytherin. Present only in spirit, he has all the same been controlling Ginny, and having her act as Slytherin's heir.
Her real parents were Daneel and Dean Novak, Pureblooded wizards. Turns out Daneel was Tom Riddles younger sister, Daneel Riddle. Of course, the Riddles were related to Salzar Slytherin himself, and this made Hermione the living heir of Slytherin.

Ron Weasley
Being Harry Potter's best friend certainly needed heaps of bravery – hence the Sorting Hat not messing around in sorting Ron into Gryffindor, the house of his parents, brothers and sister. But the Hat specifically states that Gryffindors usually have 'daring, nerve and chivalry'.
In Harry Potter canon, Ginny is Sorted into Gryffindor, while Prince of Slytherin's Ginny is Sorted into Slytherin.
Harry would have been internally conflicted if he had been Sorted into Slytherin. Although he still would have felt that Hogwarts was the only place he had ever belonged, he might have felt wary forming relationships with the children of Death Eaters.
In the books and on Pottermore, Hermione Granger was Sorted into Gryffindor. We also see Hermione mention that the Hat had difficulty deciding whether to put her into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, and ultimately decided to put her in Gryffindor.
Severus Snape, Horace Slughorn, Andromeda Tonks, Narcissa Malfoy and Regulus Black were all Slytherin heroes in their own way, if you think about it. And Merlin – as in, yes, King Arthur's advisor and the most famous wizard in history – was a Slytherin.
Slytherins have a fear of failure since their cunning mentalities encourage them to be perfect at all times. Repeated failures are what people of the house are really afraid of, though, because it opens up the possibility for them to consider that they might be weak in some way.
The only quality she shares with Salazar Slytherin is being a dark wizard. Bellatrix actually belongs in Hufflepuff. She is fiercely loyal to Voldemort, standing by his side the entire time. She also waited for his return while stuck in Azkaban with the patience only a Hufflepuff could have.
The Heir of Hufflepuff was a person foretold by the Seer Harmonthrep (Ajrand) to bring great glory and honor to the House of Hufflepuff, considered boring and lackluster by most.
First things first, there have been a couple of occasions when the Sorting Hat has possibly made a mistake. The most obvious example would be Peter Pettigrew – who rather than demonstrating courage and chivalry, was weak with a real knack for self-preservation.
Harry is the Heir of Gryffindor (though his powers have been bound by his father when he was a baby), Neville is the Heir of Hufflepuff, Meghan (OFC, daughter of Sirius) is the Heir of Ravenclaw. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Remus/Tonks. Sixth year. After a rare magical illness Harry becomes outstandingly powerful.
Albus Dumbledore: Gryffindor
Some people show traits from multiple houses, and although Dumbledore is definitely one of those, his passion and courage make him a clear Gryffindor.
Harry chose Gryffindor over Slytherin because the Hat was considering putting him there, due to the shard of Voldemort in him. He never had his pick of the four Houses and, had he insisted on being put in Hufflepuff, the Hat would have flatly refused, as it did for Neville Longbottom.
