Maleficent used to be a powerful fairy living in the Moors, a magical forest realm bordering a human kingdom. As a young girl, Maleficent meets and falls in love with a Scottish human peasant boy named Stefan.
Maleficent was born in an enchanted forest kingdom known as the Moors, bordering the human kingdom. Her parents were killed by humans, leaving her as an orphan.
Maleficent was animated by Marc Davis. She was originally voiced by Eleanor Audley, who earlier voiced Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's evil stepmother, in Cinderella (1950).
In the earliest versions of the story, Maleficent was married to the King who cheats on her with the younger princess Talia. Maleficent orders that Talia and the King's children must be killed, cooked and fed to her husband still the King. The children that the King had Talia were conceived of rape.
The second film goes back even further, creating a deep backstory for Maleficent, positing that she is not the only one of her kind. There is an entire different race of people called Dark Fey, though they do not have her powers. Maleficent's powers come from a phoenix.
Conall explains that this is the origin of all Fey, who evolved from the mother. Maleficent is a direct descendant of the Phoenix, which explains why her power is so immense to begin with.
On Maleficent's sixteenth birthday, Stefan kissed her. However, after some period of time after this, he didn't come to see Maleficent. Stefan later betrayed her and stole her wings, so he would be able to become the new king.
Stefan visits Maleficent in the Moors and drugs her, but cannot bring himself to kill her. He instead cuts off her wings, presenting them to Henry as "proof" of her death.
She is the only daughter and only child of the deceased King Stefan and Queen Leila, and the "goddaughter" of the fairy Maleficent.
True, Maleficent tried to kill a baby, and true, the Evil Queen did try to kill a girl simply because she was prettier than her, but, in terms of evil, neither come close to Shan Yu. Shan Yu is a bloodthirsty warrior.
Weaknesses. Iron: The slightest contact could burn her skin, and prolonged exposure could weaken her dramatically. However, when determined enough, Maleficent was able to snap an iron chain holding a chandelier with her wings, proving that even iron could barely slow her down when she was at her most dangerous.
As Aurora weeps, Ingrith tells her that she is the one who spread the stories about Maleficent being evil, as she wanted to take control of the Moors by wiping out the creatures there. Aurora's tears then cause Maleficent to regenerate into her powerful phoenix form.
“At first, she has beautiful, flowing hair but when she gets older and more bitter, she is more scary. She's hiding her hair and we put headwraps on her, which are a very, very important part of her costume. …
Emma immediately does some research and uncovers the truth that the woman, Lilith "Lily" Page, is not only Maleficent's daughter, but was once the childhood friend of Emma, who also discovers that fate has controlled her life down to the finest detail, which includes influencing the one friend she ever had.
Essentially, it boils down to the fact that when Aurora's parents excluded Maleficent but invited the other fairies, they had made a passive-aggressive statement that they saw her as an enemy.
King Stefan sucked in Maleficent. He broke Maleficent's heart and totally betrayed her. Her sobs when her wings are cut off still haunt me.
Zorro/Don Diego de la Vega is a character mentioned on ABC's Once Upon a Time. He is the father of Lilith Page, after a "union" between himself and Maleficent while both were in their dragon forms.
For Maleficent, it's not as easy. In the present, she implores Rumpelstiltskin to show her what became of her child once it came through the portal. The little girl was adopted, and named Lilith, or Lily. Rumpelstiltskin warns Maleficent that it'll just cause more pain to know.
His cruelty is heavily implied to be what caused Maleficent to become evil in the first place. After getting King Henry's confidence by cutting Maleficent's wings, he later became king, but he became paranoid with taking over the Moors with his hunt and vengeance for Maleficent after she cursed his newborn daughter.
Although Maleficent does not make an appearance in the third film, her voice is heard in one scene and it is revealed that the unknown male with whom she conceived Mal with was actually not a "weak human" at all, but rather, Hades, Greek god of the Underworld, who was banished to the Isle and was also Maleficent's ex- ...
Living in the Moors, a magical realm with a neighbouring human kingdom, Maleficent meets and falls in love with a young man named Stefan (Sharlto Copley). Over the years, his human desire for power and greed take hold and the two lose contact.
Maleficent forgives him and the two strike up a friendship that lasts for several years. On Maleficent's sixteenth birthday, Stefan gives her "true love's kiss," but then abandons her to pursue his thirst for power in the King's inner circle.
As he had enough of him and Maleficent making each other miserable after the love they had for each faded away, he had believed that him leaving his family was the best thing for his daughter, the one good that came out of their former relationship.
