For thousands of years, the Sith laid waste across the Star Wars galaxy while facing off against the Jedi Order. By the end of The Rise of Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine (aka Darth Sidious) is believed to be the last of the Sith Lords.
With Bane dead, leadership of his Sith Order was transferred to Darth Zannah, the new Dark Lord of the Sith.
Undermined by constant infighting and ruined by the last war against the Jedi, the Sith were rendered all but extinct with the exception of one; Darth Bane survived the ancient order's destruction and passed his knowledge to a single apprentice, Darth Zannah, before being entombed on Korriban, which became known as ...
There are dozens of canon Jedi in the Star Wars universe. Opposing them stand the canonical servants of the Dark Side of the Force: The Sith. While many Sith Lords in Star Wars are mentioned, only six are detailed in canon: Bane, Plagueis, Sidious, Maul, Tyranus, and Vader.
The last survivor
Hailing from Moraband, the ancient homeworld of the Sith, Darth Bane was a legendary Dark Lord of the Sith who lived during the dark age of the Old Republic, a thousand years before the Clone Wars.
Their reign ended when Vader sacrificed himself by destroying his master, rendering the Sith extinct through the deaths of the final Dark Lords.
According to Star Wars Legends content, the first Sith was a former Jedi Master, Ajunta Pall, who became a so-called Dark Jedi, or “Fallen” Jedi.
Even though Kylo Ren uses a red lightsaber, harnesses the dark side of the Force, and wears a cape, he is not a Sith. Because of that, he can never hold the title of Darth.
By 44 ABY, the true Sith species in the Empire were believed to have gone extinct due to the interbreeding process. Characteristics shown would be determined depending on how much Dark Jedi or Sith blood an individual possessed due to interbreeding.
1 Darth Sidious
There has been no Sith, as powerful, meticulous, nor as evil as the Emperor himself, Darth Sidious. As previously mentioned, Sidious trained in the Dark Side by Darth Plagueis before Sidious killed Plagueis in his sleep, making Sidious a Sith Master.
Immortality, or eternal life, was a state in which a living being could live without ever dying. Darth Plagueis, a Sith Lord in the years prior to the Clone Wars, lusted for immortality. According to his apprentice, Darth Sidious, Plagueis manipulated the midi-chlorians to both create life and seek immortality.
Almost 1000 years after Bane's death, Darth Plagueis trains Darth Sidious, who ultimately kills his master and takes Darth Maul as his first apprentice. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace - Sidious and Maul are the only known Sith in the galaxy.

The term "Sith Lord" generally encompassed members of both sexes, although some female Sith such as Lumiya, Tahiri Veila, Olaris Rhea, and Vestara Khai were styled Sith Lady. Originally, "Sith Lord" referred to a high-ranking member of the Sith Order's society.
The Emperor Vitiate was a Sith Lord who successfully gained near immortality by draining the life force of an entire planet, later attempting to drain all life in the galaxy, which would give him true immortality.

The Sith Empire was believed to have been destroyed by Republic forces during the second battle of Korriban.
In the context of the story, Snoke is a "genetic strandcast" created by Emperor Palpatine to serve as his proxy in power. Snoke, whom Abrams called "a powerful figure on the dark side of the Force", was introduced as the leader of the First Order and master to the sequel trilogy's primary villain, Kylo Ren.
Snoke's creator was the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, publicly known as Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine.
You may have noticed that Snoke does not have the “Darth” title like the Dark Lords of the Sith do. He was never given one because he isn't technically a Sith Lord.
In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the founders of the Jedi Order were Jedi Masters Cala Brin, Garon Jard, Rajivari, and Ters Sendon.
As the first Dark Lord of the Sith, Ajunta Pall founded the first Sith Empire and expanded it onto other worlds. The Sith took over the planet Ziost and created it as their capital and as Pall's new home. Pall eventually died after serving the Empire for many decades, but his Empire lived on.
Darth Shain, headmaster of the Korriban Temple, took notice and convened with the Dark Councilor and Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Shane McMahon, who decided to confer the title of Sith Lord to the young apprentice at the age of 11, making him the youngest Sith Lord in the history of the Sith.
