Sometime before 1914, Thomas fell deeply in love with an Italian girl, Greta Jurossi. Her parents didn't approve of a Gypsy boy dating their daughter, but Thomas eventually won them over with his charm and sweetness.
Greta Jurossi was the ex-lover of Thomas Shelby, she died at the age of 19 from consumption, before Thomas left for the war.
Thomas Shelby is surely a complex person but if there's one thing that is unquestionable is his love for Grace. Although treachery and time apart temporarily separated this couple, deep down, their love remained strong.
Named Charles "Charlie" Shelby, the young boy has been one of the few people Tommy has loved greatly in the series. He has also been a part of some heartbreaking storylines after losing his mother Grace Shelby (Annabelle Wallis) and also being kidnapped at the end of season three.
Peaky Blinders fans were left furious after Tommy Shelby had steamy sex with. The barnstorming episode featured a bomb, torture and dramatic plot twists, but it was Tommy (Cillian Murphy's) romp with Nazi sympathiser Diana (Amber Anderson) that had viewers up in arms.
Peaky Blinders: Michael Gray says he'll kill Tommy
Diana Mitford, lover of Sir Oswald Mosley, lured Cillian Murphy's character into a hotel bed before spilling the beans to his wife. The pair enjoyed a sordid night of passion, with the controversial Diana later telling Tommy's wife she had “sampled” her husband.
Following season 5's shocking failed assassination attempt, things remain tense with fascist politician Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) and his partner Diana Mitford (Amber Anderson) on the scene, and Tommy has betrayed Lizzie by sleeping with Diana.
Shelby is the mother of Thomas, Arthur Jr., John, Ada and Finn Shelby, and sister of Polly.
Tommy's son by his late first wife Grace Shelby (Annabelle Wallis), Charles (Billy Jenkins) chose to leave Tommy and live with his beloved step-mother Lizzie in the final episode.
That suggests that Tommy's handing on a mixture of "you're up, kidda" business stuff and straightforward "I'm gonna die, kidda" stuff. Certainly, that's what the direction and editing hints at. We see young Charles, buttoned up in his grey coat, looking distinctly miffed.
Lizzie is in love with Thomas, and while he definitely cares for her, her love is unrequited. In the final episode of Series 2, Lizzie attempts to explain her feelings to him, but gives up trying when it becomes evident that he's not even listening. After Grace's death, Lizzie becomes Thomas' emotional crutch.
When she comes to London, she meets Thomas and they make love. She later reveals to him that not only is she still in love with him, but she's now carrying his child. In Series 3, the pair marry and are happy living in a beautiful country estate with their young son, Charles.
From the beginning, Tommy has struggled with what we now understand as post-traumatic stress disorder, stemming from his time in World War I. In Season 6, he suffers from seizures, with his body reflecting the inner turmoil wrought from fighting at home and abroad.
Freddie died of "pestilence," likely the Spanish Influenza pandemic of 1918–1920, before the series begins. At Freddie's funeral, Thomas reveals that he made a promise back in France to speak over Freddie's grave should he pass away before him, which he fulfills.
He had tuberculoma in his brain stem, a growth caused by the same bacteria as the lung disease, doubtless picked up from daughter Ruby (Orla McDonagh). It wasn't infectious but it was inoperable. The symptoms (seizures, dissociation, hallucinations, sharp cheekbones – I may have added the last one) chimed with Tommy's.
The mother of Duke Shelby is a woman named Zelda. After having a sexual encounter with Tommy before the Great War in 1914, Zelda became pregnant. Zelda's father threatened to kill Tommy but he had already left the country to fight in the Great War. After conceiving Duke under a hazel tree, her hazel-eyed son was born.
It has not been confirmed, but Charles was likely named after Thomas' close family friend and uncle figure, Charlie Strong. He also could've been named after Charlie Chaplin, as Thomas and Grace met him on a date, the night Charles was conceived.
After his mother Polly is murdered by the IRA Michael blames Tommy for her death and plots to kill him. In Series 6 after being thrown in jail and released Michael attempts to blow Tommy up with a car bomb but fails. Michael faces Tommy one last time before he is subsequently shot in the head and killed by Tommy.
"Episode 3.5" is the fifth episode of the third series of Peaky Blinders and the seventeenth episode overall.
So her absence would be felt no matter what decision was made, but ultimately, Knight shared, “the idea that Polly's alive but she's gone to America or something wasn't right.” Instead, the creator decided that killing her off was the more honorable thing to do and the death is revealed early on in the new season.
Her murder, which happened off-screen, was punishment for his machinations and meant to bring him to heel. Polly is given a Gypsy funeral, her caravan being set on fire with her body inside, and Michael swears to avenge her, blaming Tommy for her death.
Lizzie officially reached the end of her tether after discovering Tommy had slept with Diana Mitford and decided to leave him. Still distraught over the death of her daughter Ruby, she's surprised when Tommy's son Charlie asks to join her instead of staying with him.
Does Tommy regret marrying Lizzie? Especially given Diana's connection to Mosley, who the Shelbys have been trying to take down for a while, it seems like Tommy and Lizzie's marriage might finally be over, and he later even told Lizzie that he regrets marrying her and that he is "cursed".
Because he failed the test set for him at Arrow House and chose his friend over his family.
