In the Star Wars Universe, it's hard to deny Darth Vader's greatest enemy was the Jedi Order. Sure, he had enemies such as Qi'ra, the Crimson Dawn and Doctor Aphra. But few came close to truly defeating him, other than Obi-Wan Kenobi and in time, his son, Luke Skywalker.
1 Luke Skywalker
Having faced his father once before, Luke was familiar with his tactics and used the force to gain an upper-hand. In Star Wars Canon, only Luke Skywalker can be acknowledged as the one who truly defeated Darth Vader.
A Human male, Erv Lekauf was a lieutenant in the Imperial Army. In addition to his Imperial career, Lekauf was married and had a child. He was the aide of Darth Vader, and one of his few trusted subordinates.
Vader, the only power who overrules him is papa Palpatine.
This might be a bit of a controversial pick at just number three, but Darth Vader, perhaps the best-known Dark Side user, is not the most powerful Sith ever. Born Anakin Skywalker, Vader became an extremely powerful Jedi Knight, one who was prophesized to be the "Chosen One" who would bring balance to the Force.
During the early days of the Clone Wars, Skywalker served as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, commanding the clone troopers of the elite 501st Legion against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. After receiving his knighthood, Skywalker oversaw the Jedi training of his own apprentice, Ahsoka Tano.
At its inception, the title and position was granted to Darth Vader. It seems that in this capacity, Vader's powers were those of Commander-in-Chief of all Imperial forces, answering only to Emperor Palpatine.
Aside from his sensitivity to the Force, the Jedi are keen to note the overpowering sense of fear that controls him. The lack of coping or direction given to him by the Jedi Order allowed Anakin to become more susceptible to the threats of allowing his fear to win.
The lightsaber duel didn't last long due to Luke's lack of training with the Jedi weapon and the Force, so Vader effortlessly snatched his old lightsaber from his son. Luke managed to escape before Vader could kill him, but Vader was quickly the winner of the fight itself.
Some time later, he faced the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Infil'a put up a fierce fight against Vader, almost killing him by throwing the already damaged Sith Lord off of a cliff. Despite severe damage to his suit, Vader survived the fall, and repaired himself with parts from Infil'a's droid, Arex.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Yoda's Jedi instructor was N'Kata Del Gormo, a Hysalrian Jedi Master, according to an in-universe legend.
Darth Vader hated Obi-Wan Kenobi because he hated himself. This started when he thought that Kenobi was the one that poisoned Padmé into turning against Anakin when he turned to the dark side. But the truth was that Anakin was merely projecting his own self-hatred toward Obi-Wan.
Of all the Sith Lords before and after, none are more treacherous, dangerous, and evil than Darth Sidious. Not only should he be on this list of evil Star Wars villains, he practically created the need for it.
Darth Vader Has Been Betrayed by Sabé
Sabé, Padmé's former handmaiden, joined Vader to carry out his vision for galactic order. Her seeming path to the Dark Side was not expected by many fans. However, Sabé displayed troubling behaviors such as shooting an Imperial insurrectionist.
While the former Jedi Knight's aversion to sand has been a running joke to Star Wars fans for years, Star Wars: Darth Vader #26 added a tragic new dimension to Vader's hatred of seemingly harmless mineral particles by tying it to the all-consuming fear of loss that led him down the path of the Dark Side.
Darth Vader feared his Master. The Sith lord who held his leash and the power to cause him unimaginable pain on a whim. The man who called him “My Old Friend” as a reminder that they were nothing of the sort.
Vader had been using all his energy to intimidate Luke, so when the actual fight began in a flash, he was already weak and panting. This leads to another huge factor, which is the age difference. While Luke was a young and spry 23-year-old, Vader was reaching his late 40s.
Yoda will most likely win in a fight against Darth Vader because he is more skilled with a lightsaber and has the experience and feats that allow him to trim whatever size and strength advantage Darth Vader has over him. In fact, Yoda nearly defeated Palpatine, something that Vader could never do.
5 Emperor Palpatine's Death In Return Of The Jedi
Return of the Jedi, which belongs to both canon and Legends, ends with Anakin Skywalker's redemption. Watching Palpatine torture Luke Skywalker with Force lightning, Darth Vader rejects the Sith and picks up his master, dropping him down a chasm to his death.

He wasn't even eligible. In order to be granted the rank of master, a Jedi Knight must first train their own. Padawan to knighthood. When their Padawan became a Knight, they would then be able to attain the rank.
