The saying implies that those who forgo worldly power will be rewarded in the kingdom of heaven. The meek shall inherit the Earth. Pushy people do not succeed in the end. This saying is adapted from the Beatitudes of Jesus.

But for the Bible to say that we are God's inheritance—that is almost beyond belief! God, who owns everything in the universe, is thrilled that we are his possession! Deuteronomy 32:9 repeats this incredible truth: “The Lord's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.”

As the Psalmist said, “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). When earthly parents welcome Heavenly Father's children into their homes, they assume responsibility to love them, cherish them, teach them, and lead them to eternal life.
Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (I Cor. 6:9-10).
Although most people know that Jesus says 'Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth' (Matthew 5:5), not as many people know that, in saying this, Jesus was echoing something from the Psalms: 'But the meek shall inherit the earth' (37:11).
Jesus says: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:24). This means it is impossible for a rich man to go to heaven by the same token that it is impossible for a camel to enter the eye of a needle.
As Founder and Creator of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them, God holds the rights to all of it. That includes even us – our bodies, our minds, and our lives. Even when we had become slaves to sin, he redeemed us, paying with his Son's life.

Hebrews tells us that as a result of Christ's death, “those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance.” This inheritance is the “eternal salvation” and “eternal redemption” we heard about earlier in Hebrews 5:9 and 9:12.
How we inherit characteristics. Parents pass on traits or characteristics, such as eye colour and blood type, to their children through their genes. Some health conditions and diseases can be passed on genetically too. Sometimes, one characteristic has many different forms.

Meek in Greek: Humble, gentle, mild. The underlying Greek word for “meek” in Matthew 5:5 is πραΰς, transliterated into English as praus, and it generally means humble, gentle or mild. There are two other times in the New Testament where this particular word praus appears.
The meek will inherit the earth because only the meek will develop all of the other attributes required for entrance into the celestial kingdom. In Doctrine and Covenants 121, we learn that confidence is a result of righteousness.
Thus, the main point about the meek is not their self control, but rather their absolute faith and trust in God. Hence, to be meek means to always turn to God for help, for direction, for training and for the sheer joy of this blessing.
But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
The Bible does talk about leaving an inheritance to children. Proverbs 13:22 says “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children.” In the cultural context that it was written, it is clear that passing land to the children and grandchildren would enable them to survive.
In much of modern Christianity, God is addressed as the Father, in part because of his active interest in human affairs on the earth, in the way that a father would take an interest in his children who are dependent on him and as a father, he will respond to humanity, his children, acting in their best interests.
The Bible is clear that children are to be looked upon as a blessing, not an inconvenience. They are a reward from God! Truly, children are a gift from God. One of our favorite inspirational Bible verses for kids is the account of Jesus placing the child on His lap and blessing him.
We have also received an inheritance in Christ. We were destined by the plan of God, who accomplishes everything according to his design. We are called to be an honor to God's glory because we were the first to hope in Christ.
