The hippo easily wins. A hippo can weigh over 2,000! Who will win in a fight between a snake and a crocodile? Who would win in a fight between a reticulated python and an anaconda?
The hippo, anaconda's may be tough but it wouldn't be able to over power the hippo and it's teeth would barely harm it.
If there is one animal that could bring down a full-grown hippo in a fight, it is an adult elephant. Elephants have the size and strength advantage over the hippo, and their tusks give them superior reach. Match that with a roaring charge and there is nothing that will not stop one!
Rock Python
Hippos are prey for several predators in Africa, including African Rock Pythons. These enormous serpents are feared due to their size and aggressive hunting behaviour. They typically attack young and defenceless hippos, posing a significant threat to the species.
Nile crocodiles, lions, and spotted hyenas are known to prey on young hippos. Beyond these, adult hippos are not usually preyed upon by other animals due to their aggression and size. Cases where large lion prides have successfully preyed on adult hippos have been reported, but it is generally rare.
Why tardigrades are so damn tough. It's important to note: Tardigrades are basically indestructible only when they enter a special state called cryptobiosis. In harsh environments, the animals tuck in their legs and expel all moisture from their bodies. In this state, they're called tuns.
It is unlikely a gorilla would be able to match the strength of a hippo, or get close enough to do damage without getting severely injured. The tough skin on a hippo will likely keep them safe from any attack a gorilla throws at them.
In an elephant vs hippo fight, the elephant is going to win. Assuming both creatures are fully grown adults, the elephant is just too big for the hippo to handle. Hippos are too smart to pick a fight with an elephant, so they have no idea what it takes to bring one down.
Anaconda vs Crocodile: Size
Crocodiles are more massive, weighing up to 2,000lbs and measuring 20 feet long. The largest crocodile on record was named Lolong and was a saltwater crocodile. Lolong weighed 2,370 pounds and measured 20 feet 3 inches long! Crocodiles are larger creatures, so they get the advantage here.
One might think a giant snake such as a reticulated python or anaconda would be likely to defeat an elephant, but that's not true. Neither of them has the strength to kill elephants. This is where the king cobra comes in.
Female green anacondas don't have any predators. They're considered apex predators at the top of the food chain. Males and young green anacondas do have predators, though. Caimans are common predators of smaller anacondas.
Given that tigers are very agile and fast on land, they'd likely be able to dodge the anaconda with ease. Their natural instinct of biting the back of the snake would also be an advantage. The snake could try to wrap around the tiger but probably wouldn't be fast enough to do so.
The hippo gobbles up the dragon in short order but the dragon gets a single bite while dying. That single bite will probably cause the hippo to die from the injected bacteria in a very slow and painful death. Komodo dragon vs.
Hippo stomps so hard. Even if you take the largest and strongest of the bears, the Polar bear, an average Hippo is still three times as heavy as the average Polar bear (1500kg vs 450kg), can run almost as fast (30km/h for Hippo, 40km/h for Polar bear) and has tusks that can bite a Polar bear in two.
Even if a swimming tiger catches up with a hippo, it'll have a tough time winning the fight. Hippos have thick, strong skin that protects them from predators. Plus, their massive body makes them almost impossible to take down. Hippos have the most powerful jaws in the animal kingdom with a bite force of 1,800 psi.
Predators. Leopards and crocodiles are large carnivores which may prey upon gorillas. Humans are the greatest threat to all gorilla populations.
If the fight takes place in an open area, then the rhino would likely win due to its greater speed and agility. However, if the fight takes place in water, then the hippo would likely have the advantage due to its greater strength and jaw power.
It's a tardigrade—the most 'indestructible' animal on Earth. Also called water bears, tardigrades can survive up to 30 years without food, live in volcanoes, and endure the vacuum of space.
Meet the Tardigrade – The Toughest Animal on Earth.
Animals with no natural predators are called apex predators, because they sit at the top (or apex) of the food chain. The list is indefinite, but it includes lions, grizzly bears, crocodiles, giant constrictor snakes, wolves, sharks, electric eels, giant jellyfish, killer whales, polar bears, and arguably, humans.
The reason crocs live together somewhat peaceably with hippos is because hippos don't eat meat* and crocs usually understand it's foolhardy to attempt to attack an adult hippo. So, they don't even try. No interest on the hippo side and nearly assured destruction on the croc's side.
