“The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'There are three whose prayer are not accepted: A man who leads people while they do not like him; a man who does not come to prayer until its end – meaning after its time has expired – and one who enslaves a freed person.'”
If you are committing any sin which you are aware of, then it is best advised to stop committing that sin so that Allah will answer your dua's. We don't know which sin of ours is stopping Allah from accepting our prayers.
And your Lord says, Make Dua before Me, I will accept for you. Verily those who disdain My worship surely will enter the hellfire contemptible" (40:60). This verse is telling us how Allah will accept every single one of our duas.
Muslim jurists believe that the reasons and excuses that are permissible for delaying prayer beyond its time are sleep, forgetfulness, and negligence from the beginning of the time, even if that results from the shortcomings of the worshiper.

Our beloved Messenger ﷺ said, “There are three whose duʿā' is not rejected: the fasting person until he opens his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person…” (Tirmidhī).
It was narrated in a sahih report that our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There are three prayers that are not rejected: the prayer of a father for his child, the prayer of the fasting person and the prayer of the traveller.” Narrated by al-Bayhaqi; see Sahih al-Jami', 2032; al-Sahihah, 1797.
If you missed prayers with no excuse, you have committed a major sin and you have to repent to Allah. It is not valid for you to make it up according to the more correct of the two scholarly opinions.
Let everyone pray when they feel fresh and comfortable. When they feel tired, they should sit down. '” (Related by Al-Bukhari). This is just an example of the fact that Islam does not overburden its followers with worship duties.
In Islam, when making dua (prayer) for someone you want to marry, you can talk to Allah in your own words expressing your sincere desire. You can use a structured dua like: "Ya Allah, I ask You through Your knowledge and power to bless me with a spouse that will bring me closer to You.
Make dua whenever you want, don't let these ultra-strict voices prevent you from doing a legitimate worship. It's not required after every prayer but it's not wrong either.
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “When one of you makes a supplication, he should not say, 'If you wish. ' He should be firm in asking and he should have great hope. Allah does not think that anything that He gives is too great. '”
In this sense Dua is very important in the life of Muslims because Dua is like a conversation with Allah Almighty in which we put our needs before Him and ask His help in the resolution of our problems. Dua is not only a submission about our need before Allah Almighty but it is a form of worship as well.

Loving Sin
Our prayers won't be heard if we “cherish iniquity,” holding unrepentantly to some sin. This does not include a believer struggling with a recurring sin who regularly and humbly repents, but this is anyone who willfully harbors sin and refuses to repent.
In the Quran, it is said, '(O Messenger!) The Book that has been revealed to you; Recite from it and establish prayer Salah). Indeed, Salah prevents one from indecency (fahisha) and evil deeds (munkar).
One popular dua for protection is "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah" ("There is no power or strength except in Allah"). This dua can be used to protect oneself from any form of harm caused by the evil eye, jinn, black magic or enemies.
There are three components of gratitude: (1) Thanking Allah by humbling our hearts to Him. (2) Thanking Allah by acknowledging His favours and praising Him with our tongues. (3) Thanking Allah by using all of our body parts to obey Him.
