A: We advise that you wait 6 full weeks after surgery before you resume drinking caffeine. We know this might be difficult for some patients used to drinking coffee or tea daily. If you must resume before the 6 weeks, we advise ½ cup or ¼ cup a day if needed.
The key is to stay hydrated with water and avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol consumption. For the first 24 hours, it is important to have bland food to avoid any major side effects or feeling nauseated.
Drinking hot fluids will dilate the blood vessels in your nose and increase the risk of bleeding. Avoid alcohol for two weeks after the surgery. Avoid taking aspirin as it can affect your blood clotting and can increase the risk of bleeding.
Hor drinks, including coffee and tea, but also other hot beverages such as hot chocolate should be avoided during the fists 3 days following a nose job. The sinuses are stimulated by the heat, potentially causing more nasal mucus buildup and bleeding in your nasal area.
Caffeine and alcohol should be avoided for at least 6 weeks following your rhinoplasty. It is also critical that you refrain from smoking following your operation.
Sleeping on your side or stomach is not recommended for several weeks after the procedure because it places unnecessary pressure on your nose. Resting on your back in an elevated position cuts down on congestion and minimizes swelling after rhinoplasty surgery.
You'll need to sleep in an elevated position for at least one week, however, it's generally recommended that you wait around 10-14 days before returning to your regular sleeping positions.
First Day after Rhinoplasty Surgery
Continue to avoid hot liquids, including coffee or tea. Plenty of iced drinks are encouraged.
Over the next few days, soft foods such as mashed potatoes, smoothies, oatmeal, soup, and Gatorade are recommended. Hot meals and drinks, as well as spicy foods, should be avoided as they can dilate the blood vessels, thereby increasing swelling and bruising.
There is no ban on brushing after rhinoplasty. But it should be done carefully so as not to shake the nose. Open your mouth as little as possible to brush. And move the toothbrush slowly in the mouth.

Patients can participate in the following activities two weeks after rhinoplasty surgery: Short walks. Light household chores. Driving (if you feel comfortable and are not taking pain medication)

How long should I wait after nasal surgery to kiss my partner? – I tell patients to wait 6 weeks before returning to contact sports, so if you consider kissing a contact sport, then 6 weeks. If not, then you can kiss your partner as soon as you are able to do so painlessly.
24 Hours Post-Op
During the first 24 house after your procedure, you may feel drowsy and doze in and out of sleep. You may feel this way if you receive sedation or general anesthesia. If you only receive local anesthesia and stay awake during the procedure, you will not feel drowsy afterward.
Keep Your Head Elevated
Sleeping on your side after rhinoplasty isn't just uncomfortable – it can prolong your recovery time by causing additional bruising and swelling. More frighteningly, it can displace your nose. To avoid this, you'll need to keep your head elevated at night for 6 weeks following surgery.
If you sleep on your side, the lower nostril will likely become plugged while you sleep, and since you can't blow your nose, this congestion can be uncomfortable. Sleeping on your back in an elevated position is the best-case scenario for post-rhinoplasty sleep.
In general, the majority of swelling should begin to subside within three days. Most patients can return to work after 1-2 weeks, depending on the type of work. Resume normal activity slowly, being careful not to push too hard too soon. Strenuous or contact activities should be put off for at least 3-6 weeks.
2 Weeks After Rhinoplasty: At this point, you will probably experience a dramatic reduction in post-op swelling, and any bruising will likely have disappeared. As swelling recedes, the new shape of the nose becomes more apparent and distinguishable.
While waiting at least one week to fly after rhinoplasty is necessary, it is recommended you put off flying until swelling has subsided and you have resumed normal activities – typically after three to four weeks. This timeframe can be different for each patient.
