* Avoid cola, energydrink, dairy, and hot or spicy food during the healing process to prevent infection. * Try to give the jewelry as much rest as possible. Too much moving might damage the tissue, gums or enamel.
Eating & Drinking:
Products to avoid for at least 3 days: Dairy products only if not pasteurized (ice cream, yoghurt, cheese, etc.), hard alcohol, cigarettes (nicotine in any form), and chemical products like teeth whitener. Ice is allowed, but do not lick ice cubes.
Take your time with eating until you are used to the piercing and the jewelry is downsized to prevent irritation or prolonged healing. Avoid eating spicy, salty, acidic, or hot temperature foods or beverages for the first two weeks (no specific foods need to be avoided).
It's recommended that you eat soft and relatively cool foods like pudding, ice cream and yogurt. Avoid taking solid foods because they might bruise the fresh wound or become trapped in the piercing.

Dairy foods, such as yogurt or milk, should be avoided in the days following a tongue piercing. Dairy products are believed to encourage the growth of yeast bacteria, which could give rise to a painful yeast infection.
While adjusting to having a lip ring, chew food slowly and carefully. Eat soft foods like oatmeal, Jell-O, macaroni and cheese, soup, and yogurt during the first 1–-2 weeks after getting pierced.
Showering: Shower like you normally do; the last thing you will do while in the shower is clean your piercing. Lather up some mild, fragrance free, non-antibacterial soap in your hands and gently wash your piercing. You want enough friction to clean the piercing, but not so much that you cause trauma to it.
Reduce the amount of talking you do. Cut down on your intake of warm beverages, spicy and acidic foods, tobacco and alcohol for the first week or as long as your lip is swollen. Avoid drinking through straws while your piercing is healing. Avoid drinking carbonated beverages for 3-4 days.
Bleeding, bruising, discoloration and/or swelling are not uncommon. Any break in the skin, including a new piercing can bleed or bruise. These are not indications of any complication. Reduce intake of aspirin, alcohol, and caffeine.
However, as long as you keep your piercing absolutely clean, it is safe to work out after having it done and while it is healing. If you want to be on the safe side, consider taking your exercise outdoors for the first week or so.
Not eat spicy, salty, or acidic foods and drinks. Not have hot drinks, like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
Avoid eating, drinking, and smoking for the first 3 hours.
For as long as possible, and certainly for the first 3 hours after receiving your piercing, leave your lip piercing alone. Avoid talking as much as possible. Until your piercing is completely healed, you should also avoid: Alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and drugs.
Will the piercing affect eating? A lip piercing can definitely make eating more delicate for the first few days, but it won't force you to change too much of your diet during healing. Simply eat what is easiest.
Don't engage in any kissing or oral sex for at least 3 weeks after the piercing. Stop yourself picking at any scabs that form as they prevent bacteria from entering the body and causing infection.
Initially, the main concern with oral piercings is reducing the initial swelling and getting it to go away as soon as possible. We find it's important to avoid irritants like smoking/vaping/etc., harsh chemicals like mouthwash and toothpaste, spicy foods, strong acids like lemon juice, alcohol, and excessive salt.
A lip piercing is more prone to infections, because it regularly comes in contact with things like food and drinks, makeup, and bacteria from your mouth. If you notice discharge, swelling or redness that doesn't go down, tenderness, burning, itching, or intense pain, your piercing is most likely infected.
Center Vertical Bottom Lip Piercing - Vertical Labret
This piercing is an excellent option for those who don't want to risk damage to the teeth or gums, since the actual jewelry never touches the inside of the mouth.
You should also be removing the piercings regularly for thorough cleaning. Chewing gum should also be avoided whilst mouth piercings are healing.
No Chickens, Egg or Sticky Rice after Piercing
you don't have to. High protein or carb diets can, in fact, accelerate your healing rate and replenish your energy, so it is totally okay to consume these two products after ear piercing.
Stay out of pools, hot tubs, rivers, lakes and other bodies of water while your piercing is healing. Don't fiddle with your piercings. Don't touch a new piercing or twist the jewelry unless you're cleaning it. Keep clothing away from the piercing, too.
Don't eat or drink a lot of sugar as sugar breeds bacteria and less sugar residue in your mouth will help promote healing. Don't take drugs or drink alcohol for the first 24 – 48 hours as they can get into the piercing and cause excess swelling.
