BTS was formed by Bang Si-Hyuk, a successful songwriter and music producer who established his own studio, Big Hit Entertainment, in 2005. In 2010 he began to assemble talent for a group he was calling the Bangtan Sonyeondan (“Bulletproof Boy Scouts”), which would later become better known as BTS.
'Bangtan' means to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim at adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today's adolescents.” BTS consists of seven members - Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
BTS stands for the Korean phrase Bangtan Sonyeondan (Korean: 방탄소년단; Hanja: 防彈少年團), which translates literally to 'Bulletproof Boy Scouts'. According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets".

SBS also reports that the rapper Basick was offered a spot in BTS but turned it down. A user on Amino Apps also claims that BTS was supposed to have nine to 10 members but debuted with only seven, which means that Basick could've been one of the few members that was supposed to debut with the Bangtan Boys.
As many BTS fans (known as ARMY) know, BTS will not break up. J-Hope is only leaving to serve his military enlistment duty. In the same Weverse announcement, Big Hit added, “Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment.”
Supreme Boi was a Big Hit Entertainment trainee who aspired to make his BTS debut. But, in the middle of his trainee days, he opted to leave the group before its debut, with no explanation other than that he felt inappropriate to be a member of an idol group. The fluidity of BTS's identity especially comes through in their intricately written lyrics. Their songs are gender-neutral. They use “her”, “she”, “he”, “him”, “they”, and “them” as interchangeable pronouns, and switch tenses often, which leads to a sense of fluidity in meaning.
BTS is doing the best they can to make sure that ARMY does not feel the void Jin has left behind. After a video featuring Jin's travel diary to Argentina dropped, another clip of the eldest vocalist leaving a message for ARMY has just been shared. The video was shot prior to his departure for the military service.
RM selected the name "Rap Monster" during his time as an idol trainee. The name derives from the lyrics of a song he wrote, inspired by San E's "Rap Genius". The lyrics contained a segment where San E declares he should be called a "rap monster" as he "raps non-stop".
J-Hope is only leaving to serve his military enlistment duty. In the same Weverse announcement, Big Hit added, “Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment.”
He continued by saying that he was not as passionate as the other BTS members and would probably not make it big if he was part of the group.

He is nicknames the God of Destruction because he destroys everything he touches. Rap Monster was the first to join BTS and the only one from the original line up. He said the famous quote, "Jimin, you got no jams." "My name is Rap Monster, not Dance Monster."
While J-Hope ranks as the least popular member of the group, Tumblr and Gallup also found that Jungkook and Jimin are the band's most popular members.
In the end, though, the singer chose V because of how it represents “victory. “ “My stage name was chosen last. Six, Lex, V,” he said. “ Those three names were suggested but the members and PD all said that V fit me the best and so I picked V to stand for victory”
