"The theory is that Brenner knew that none of the kids, numbers Two through Ten, were as strong as number One. So, Dr. Brenner waited for One to get older to make him breed with Terry Ives to create Eleven—to make sure that she was the strongest, and clearly, she is." Yep.
Brenner. He shows genuine concern for Eleven in the flashbacks to her past trauma, and a large part of the reason that he attempted to keep her in the bunker was because he was concerned that she was not strong enough to confront Vecna, thus cementing her death if she attempted to confront him at that time. Dr.
Brenner to "make contact" with the Demogorgon, possibly because he was keen to have her search alternate dimensions to find Henry again. When Eleven touched the Demogorgon inside the Void, she became so terrified that her powers burst out of her, and a Gate to the Upside Down was opened inside the lab.
Brenner Care About Eleven? According to Matthew Modine's excellent interview by Vulture, Dr. Brenner (AKA Papa) absolutely did love Eleven. But he absolutely doesn't defend what his character did to Eleven or the rest of the children.
Dr Brenner isn't actually Eleven's father and 'Papa' is simply the name he is known to her by. It seems to be Brenner's way of making himself appear more friendly to her and the other subjects.
In Season 1, Brenner is trying to further develop the psychic abilities of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who encounters a strange monster during one experiment. Despite being scared, Brenner pushes her to go further, which results in a portal to the Upside Down opening up.
Brenner asks — in a roundabout way — for Eleven's forgiveness while he lay dying. Although Eleven refused to give her “papa” that understanding in his final moments, Matthew explained that forgiveness “is the most powerful thing in the universe.”
In his last moments, he wanted to convince her that everything he did was for her, to protect her. In his twisted sense of fatherhood and family, Brenner tried to get the message across that despite the horrifying electroshock experiments and the torturous life he'd given them, he loved his children.
Sharing more about Eleven's real father Andrew Rich could be a great way to wrap up the story.
Brenner confirms in season 4 that Eleven's powers were lost because of the Mind Flayer's attack at Hopper's cabin and later during the Battle of Starcourt. Eleven suffered something akin to a stroke, according to Dr. Brenner, and she merely forgot how to access her powers.
Realizing he had tremendous psychic power, he haunted his family with visions before ultimately killing most of them. His father was framed for the murders and locked away in a mental hospital as a disturbed serial killer. Henry then found himself in the care of Brenner, who decided he wanted more kids like the boy.
I saw a means to realize my potential, to transcend my human form, to become the predator I was always born to be. Vecna reached out to the Mind Flayer, seemingly using his powers to reshape it into the spider-legged monster he had doodled as a child.
Eleven has a memory during this episode and realizes that 001/Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) wants her to join him on his evil journey, and she banished him to the Upside Down. 001 then transformed into Vecna, the horrifying Stranger Things villain.
Remember also that we have evidence that powers can be inherited -- El inherited her powers from Terri Ives, for example. So it stands to reason that Henry inherited his powers from one of his parents.
Brenner was never trying to protect Eleven; he was using her to find his pet project. All those tests and experiments, all the trips to the Upside Down, Brenner was using Eleven as a search party, hoping to locate the missing One.
We know Eleven was born in 1971, which means her mom got pregnant with her during the tests, sometime in 1970. A 1959 flashback in the mid-season 4 finale reveals a 12-year-old One (Jamie Campbell Bower). That puts One, a.k.a. Vecna, as 24 when Eleven was born.
Brenner has no supernatural powers of his own - just the good old powers of manipulation. He's excellent at psychologically manipulating Eleven for his own ends. That manipulative behavior seems to indicate that, lacking powers of his own, he needs her power to keep pursuing his goals with the Upside Down and One.
Next up, the viewers go on to theorise that One/Vecna is actually Eleven's dad. Yep, told you it was wild. The theory claims that Brenner wanted to create a child with stronger powers, so he waited until One was old enough to become a father.
Brenner secretly hoped to abduct the unborn children of the pregnant test subjects, as he believed the experimentations would make them develop similar psychokinetic abilities to Henry.
He's back, by the way, and not just in flashback. The scars on his face prove that he is very much alive, having survived his encounter with season 1's demogorgon. Eleven, who remains petrified of Brenner, feels betrayed.
As El is embracing Will, her shock collar unclasps. She turns around and sees Papa, just barely alive, who has released her. He reaches for her and utters his dying words, "Eleven, I want you to know, I'm proud of you. So very proud.
'So Dr Brenner died…. he was evil but his death is still sad…. and they just left him dying in the middle of the desert oh that was a sad sight,' one person penned, while another Twitter user added: 'I was literally sobbing during Brenner's death when he was talking to Eleven, it was so sad for no reason.
The final scene of Volume 1 shows a shot of Vecna, and a close up of the 001 tattoo on his arm, confirming that Henry Creel, a.k.a. Number One, became Vecna.
Brenner had her searching in the darkness in the name of fighting the Russians, but in reality he had her searching for Henry, whom he still loved.
Ten was seemingly a shy and reserved boy. He used a Magic 8 Ball to communicate and considered it to be his favorite toy. Ten was very loyal to Dr. Brenner and was willing to do some lessons with him in order to test his powers.
