Nora decides she needs to break up with Patch in order to prevent the archangels from sending him to Hell. It's not a good idea to dump her Guardian Angel, however, since all kinds of people want to kill Nora, including the reader.
Later, Nora and Patch argue about him watching Marcie through her bedroom window. Patch refuses to explain to her what he was doing watching Marcie, so Nora breaks up with him for keeping secrets from her.
Around the end, Patch and Nora get possession of all of the fallen angels' feathers including Patch's and Marcie burns them all after finding out that Nora killed her father. Patch dies due to this and is in hell along with all the other fallen angels.
To her surprise, Nora wakes up alive and well. Patch explains that he did not take her sacrifice because there was no point in having a human body without her. In doing so, Patch has saved Nora's life and is now her guardian angel.
Patch drives Nora home, and Nora tells him she loves him. Patch leaves and it's all very awkward. Marcie tells Nora that Patch was outside her window last night. Nora confronts Patch and he refuses to tell her the truth because of the archangels, so they break up.
Nora and Ren have been together ever since the attack on Kuroyuri which happened when they were both very young. At some point during this time, Nora began to develop feelings for Ren but is quick to dismiss any idea of them being "together-together".
We left Patch and Nora were finally happily together and in love but with a big problem: Nora's vow to her dead father, Hank. Nora must lead the Nephilim in the upcoming war against the fallen angels who possess their bodies each year.
He rejects her sacrifice, which returns her soul to her body and turns Patch into her guardian angel. One of the things Patch likes about Nora from the get-go is her vulnerability, and time and again, we see Nora in dangerous situations.

After this Nora runs to Patch and tells him about the oath, she goes into his memory and learns about devilcraft.
In addition: Patch is a BAD person because he Fell. And he fell because of lust for a woman he loved. At the end of the novel, he becomes an angel again and yet he proceeds with a relationship with Nora which is of course, based on lust as well.
