While a mistake in real life, the canon reason that Leia embraces Rey before Chewbacca is due to Leia seeing Rey as a lost soul and surrogate daughter, establishing a strong relationship that will grow through the sequel trilogy.
Powerfully Force-sensitive, Rey trains to be a Jedi under siblings Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, and faces adversaries such as Kylo Ren, Supreme Leader Snoke and the resurrected Emperor Palpatine—who is revealed to be her grandfather in The Rise of Skywalker.
Rey asks Leia if she could tell her more about Ben's fall to the dark side, explaining that she wants to understand him. Rey also tells Leia how she wishes to help Ben, but when Kylo Ren asked her to join him on the Supremacy, she was disappointed as she realized that he just wanted her to be like him.
Luke's words confirm that Leia discovered Rey was a Palpatine during her lifetime, either before or during the time jump between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. If Luke found out through his Sith investigations, or while training Rey on Ahch-To, he undoubtedly would've passed on this knowledge to his sister.
Whose Lightsaber Does Rey Have at the End of The Rise of Skywalker? In addition to her own yellow lightsaber, Rey Skywalker has Leia's lightsaber and the Skywalker lightsaber (which belonged to Anakin, Luke and Rey herself) at the end of The Rise of Skywalker.
Eventually, Skywalker went into exile on Ahch-To and took the saber with him, storing it inside his hut. After Skywalker's death, his Force spirit gave Organa's lightsaber to Rey, as he believed Organa would want the Jedi Padawan to have her weapon.
She does not have a baby bump, her hand never goes to her stomach to indicate she's carrying a child, and there wasn't exactly any time for her to have conceived a child with anyone in the course of the film, including Kylo Ren/Ben Solo.
So does Finn love Rey? No, not like that. The films and comments made from those involved in making the trilogy have made clear that despite seeming to have some romantic tension between them, there is nothing going on between Rey and Finn.
She's important in the plot sense because Reva, who is searching for Obi-Wan for Anakin, uses Leia as bait but she's also important because she reminds Ben what he lost in Padmé and Anakin but what he gained in the twins. Leia is just as important as Luke.
Rey was born on Hyperkarn in 15 ABY during the rise of the New Republic. Her father, Dathan, was a bioengineered Strand-Cast cloned from the genetic template of Darth Sidious, the Sith Lord who ruled the Galactic Empire as Emperor Palpatine.
Following the Wampa attack during the movie's opening scenes on Hoth; Leia, Han, and Chewie visit Luke in the infirmary. Leia is annoyed with Han, who insists she has feelings for him, so she kisses Luke to prove she doesn't. Presumably, the scene was simply meant to make Han jealous.
One could theorize that he bore a child through some sort of space artificial insemination, or something closer to what we've seen in canon Star Wars material. In the canon comic Darth Vader No. 25, it is revealed that Palpatine somehow used the Force to manipulate midichlorions to impregnate Shmi Skywalker.
Theory 1: Leia Doesn't Remember Ben Is Obi-Wan
Throughout her encounters with Kenobi in the series, he refers to himself as Ben. The most straightforward explanation would be that Leia knows the person who rescued her is Ben, and never connected the dots that Ben is actually Obi-Wan.
She felt that Ben Solo would die if she continued her Jedi training. To try and prevent this from happening, Leia laid down her lightsaber and gave up her training.
Obi-Wan never did, but Yoda originally had wanted to train Leia instead of Luke. In the book “Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View” there is a short story from Yoda's perspective on Degobah. He was thinking to himself how he could not wait to train Leia, as she had all the qualities of a good Jedi, unlike Luke.
It wasn't until an Academy screening of “Rise of Skywalker” after the film's theatrical opening that Abrams said Finn wanted to tell Rey that he is Force sensitive. This clarification came after Boyega took to social media to declare, “No, Finn wasn't going to say I love you before sinking!”
Phoebe, a.k.a. Flame Princess, is Finn's first real flame after his long-lasting unrequited crush on Princess Bubblegum.
Having refounded the Jedi Order and trained several new Jedi including Leia, Luke eventually marries an enemy-turned-ally Mara Jade, and they have a son named Ben, who was voted the 40th top Star Wars character by IGN and the 6th top Star Wars Expanded Universe character by UGO Networks.
In a new excerpt, it's revealed that the names of Rey's parents are Dathan and Miramir. Dathan is the dad and Miramir the mother, if you were wondering; it's not always clear with these names from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
In response, Disney and Abrams have denied that this kiss was romantic, insisting that it was more of a familial relationship and that the kiss was a kiss of gratitude instead of romance.
In the spite of not getting credit for the discovery, Nerdatron shares the list of concealed clues from TROS showing that Rey is definitely pregnant with the future Skywalkers.
"Skywalker's first student was to be his sister, Leia. However, she ultimately decided that the best path for her to serve the galaxy left no room for the extended isolation of Jedi training," Hidalgo wrote.
Rey repaired the lightsaber after it was shattered in a struggle with Kylo Ren, and wielded it in a climactic confrontation with the reborn Emperor Palpatine.
So Rey and Ben each have their own lightsabers now and can teach a new generation of Jedi together, right? No, not exactly. Because Rey exhausted her energy in killing Palpatine, and because Ben used the last of his energy in reviving Rey, she's left on her own with two Skywalker lightsabers.
