Exactly why Roger decided to give Shanks the hat is unknown at this point, but it would be safe to say that Roger saw something in Shanks and deemed him worthy of the hat. It can be said that many of the people that have the Will of the D. seem to be able to see the potential (whether for good or bad) in an individual.
Roger. Roger wore the hat until he eventually handed it off to Shanks, who handed it to Luffy when he was a child. Luffy promised to give the hat back after he became Pirate King, but for now, it remains in his possession.
Shanks was Luffy's idol and his main inspiration for becoming a pirate, which is why the Straw Hat has always been so important to him.
Believe it or not, it was actually Gol D. Roger who gave Shanks his straw hat which was later on given to Monkey D. Luffy.
Luffy's straw hat is the main symbol of the entire series and is the origin of his nickname "Straw Hat Luffy." His straw hat was given to him by his idol, "Red-Haired" Shanks when Luffy was a child, and he promised to give the hat back to Shanks once he becomes a great pirate (or in other words, the Pirate King).
How does Shanks lose his arm in One Piece? In Episode Four, due to a minor scuffle, Luffy is thrown into the water by some pirates and finds himself near the jaws of a vicious Sea King. Just as he is about to be eaten by the Sea King, Shanks comes and saves him, only to end up losing his own arm.
As far as I know, there are only two members of the Straw Hats besides Luffy, that have worn his Straw Hat, namely Nami and Usopp. I think this has some significance to the story, eventhough I am not sure how.
Shanks' scar caused by Blackbeard because he's mistaking the gomu no mi with yami no mi which Blackbeard been searching for decades.
Luffy got his scar on his chest from Roronoa Zoro this happened while Zoro's being controlled on Episode 223 from 10:55 - 11:10.
Like Luffy, Shanks wanted to be a pirate from a very young age, and when he was just nine-years old, he joined the legendary Roger Pirates.
Most likely, this is due to his extremely high levels of Haki and swordsmanship. In recent One Piece chapters, fans witnessed the power of Shanks' Conqueror Haki. It emanated from the seas around Wano all the way to Admiral Ryokugyu, who was fighting inside the Wano mainland.
Whilst in Foosha Village, Shanks found Luffy to be an incredible and endearing kid, so much so that he gave him his precious straw hat as a sign of his faith that he will become a great pirate.
However, if fans are wondering how Shanks got the Gum Gum fruit, the answer can be found in the series' Wano arc. He stole it from the World Government, the global regime that rules the One Piece universe. Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for the One Piece manga and anime.
Shanks Establishing His Pirate Crew
On the day of Roger's execution, Shanks was present at Loguetown – the town of the beginning and the end. Shedding tears for his captain as he died, Shanks set out on his own adventure and started his own pirate crew in the next few years.
Roger was PK, Wb was Strongest. Shanks is a Yonko, Mihawk is Strongest Swordsman. Due to her strength and tough body, Charlotte Linlin, better known as "Big Mom," has been considered a freak of nature since she was a child.
He wears a pair of sandals and is unshaven with a short scruffy beard. His birthday was March 9, ages are 37 (pre-timeskip), and 27 (when meeting Luffy). The most striking thing about Shanks is the color of his red hair, where his epithet 'Red-Haired Shanks' comes from.
The circumstances surrounding Zoro's left eye aren't a complete mystery; at the very least fans know that it happened sometime during the two-year time skip. During this time, each member of the Straw Hat crew committed to training and growing stronger.
It's entirely possible Mihawk noticed through their duel and training that Zoro suffers from ocular dominance in his left eye. That is to say, the left eye is stronger than the right. As a result, maybe Mihawk scarred the left eye shut and instructed Zoro not to open it until his right eye was trained enough.
Luffy is most likely to end up with Boa Hancock, as she has made it clear that she wishes to be with him and he has shown he cares about her a lot. However, Luffy has a strong friendship with Nami and has reacted to her physical appearance numerous times, so many fans still believe Luffy might end up with Nami.
Firstly, before the Wano Arc, the Kid Pirates initiate an attack on Red-Hair Pirates. Shanks' crew only responds to the immediate threat by defeating Eustass Kid and cutting his arm off. This is letting him off easy compared to the brutality of the pirate world.
In order to prove his courage to the pirates, Luffy took a knife and stabbed himself below the left eye. The act resulted in a scar that certainly made him look tough as a pirate. While there was some humor in this, it proved too brutal for the anime.
His other Devil Fruit is the mightiest Logia, the Yami Yami no Mi, that allows him to produce and manipulate darkness itself. All that, when combined with a powerful Haki, makes Blackbeard one of the mightiest fighters in the One Piece world and certainly someone capable of defeating Shanks.
The protagonist of One Piece has "3D2Y" tattooed on his arm. It just represented the time he spent training. This tattoo is a reminder for his crew to meet him two years and three days later.
Zoro is perceived as the vice captain of the Straw Hats. He is arguably Luffy's most loyal crewmate. He has displayed the most respect and dedication to Luffy by following his orders, proclaiming promises, and being the most vocal about Luffy achieving his dream of becoming the Pirate King.
But Yamato is confirmed to be the unofficial 11th member of the Straw Hat pirates.
