It was all because Narcissa THOUGHT Harry was destined to kill Voldemort - since he has escaped Voldemort so many times, that led her to confidently betray Voldemort. To me, the larger significance of that scene is that Lord Voldemort doesn't understand the love a mother can bear her child.
Narcissa's greatest moment, however, was when she chose to betray Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Not knowing whether Draco was alive or dead, Narcissa chose to lie to the Dark Lord rather than risk losing her son.
Ultimately, his need to survive and protect his family would lead Lucius to betray Voldemort. With the Dark Lord defeated, he and his wife Narcissa turned in every Death Eater they could to avoid being imprisoned in Azkaban.
In the battle that ensued, the prophecy was destroyed, and Lucius and his comrades were imprisoned in Azkaban in 1996. Although Voldemort broke them out of prison in 1997, he was displeased with Lucius for his failures and treated the Malfoys with much disdain and abuse.
Bellatrix and Lucius also fought along during the Battle of Malfoy Manor, where they argued about who would call Voldemort when they caught Harry Potter. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Bellatrix was eventually killed by Molly Weasley, while Lucius and his family were reformed, as they regretted about joining Voldemort.
Finally, Lucius, Narcissa, and Draco never fled Hogwarts with the other antagonists and losers. In The Deathly Hallows novel, the Malfoys defect from Voldemort's army, betraying the other Death Eaters.
Having gone through the horrors of the second wizarding war as a Death Eater, Draco abandoned the pure-blood beliefs he was originally devoted to, and grew to become a better person than he was in his youth, growing more tolerant and accepting of the non-pure-bloods of the wizarding world.
Specifically, Draco was jealous of Harry. It was easy to miss because Draco didn't often show his emotions, modelling himself on his cold, confident, calculating father, but J.K. Rowling has confirmed that a lot of his enmity towards Harry stemmed from envy.
Malfoy hated all the attention Harry recieved . Malfoy thought Harry was a dark wizard, he tried to befriend Harry but he refused because of the way Malfoy treated Ron whom he already made friends with. That's why Malfoy hate Harry for turning him down.
the malfoys hate the weasleys for two reasons : 1) their profound support for dumbledore order of the phoenix &and they were against dark lord ! 2) they unlike the malfoys were open to muggles being in the wizarding world ,they hated the fact that weasleys were friendly , supportive and loved the muggles .
Lucius Malfoy did nothing to dispel this hateful impression and was a fully signed up supporter of pure-blood supremacy. In fact, he was in Lord Voldemort's closest circle as a Death Eater. He despised Muggles, Muggle-borns, those he saw as blood traitors and tried to instil those values in his family.
It is also probable that, since Narcissa's lie to Voldemort saved Harry's life, the family is pardoned for their crimes. They keep a relatively low profile after that, while continuing to live a leisurely life in the Malfoy Manor.
Though it should be noted he was still happier having finally broken free from the Death Eaters alongside his family, even if this was out of self-preservation rather than a genuine change of heart, it still proved that Lucius wasn't a completely evil and selfish person underneath, and that he was capable of genuine ...
Draco Malfoy's mother Narcissa was cold, cunning and devoted to the Dark Lord. But she was also a mother, which meant she was willing to risk everything to make sure her son was safe. When Harry survived Voldemort's Killing Curse for the second time, Narcissa pretended he was dead so she could get to Draco.
Telling him the truth doesn't risk her life and neither does it risks Draco's life, who would still be a minor servant and while at the bottom of the Deatheather's hierachy, still be a part of it. Not knowing whether Draco was alive or dead, Narcissa chose to lie to the Dark Lord rather than risk losing her son.
Voldemort had waged psychological warfare on the Malfoys, and knowing that he held total power over them- he fully took advantage of his situation. He wielded his power to the point that they no longer wanted to follow him- but they were in too deep.
Draco had several reasons for lying to Bellatrix, including the fact that he was never a bad person. Moreover, he no longer found working for the Dark Lord appealing and hated how Voldemort treated his family. He did not intend to harm anyone and believed Harry was the only person capable of defeating Voldemort.
Being raised by either the Malfoys or the Dursleys would be a very damaging experience, and Draco undergoes dreadful trials as a direct result of his family's misguided principles. However, the Malfoys do have a saving grace: they love each other.
Lucius is incredibly prejudiced against Muggles, Muggle-borns, and anyone sympathetic to Muggles, and he instills this prejudice in Draco as well. Lucius particularly dislikes Mr. Weasley because part of his work at the Ministry involves protecting Muggles.
Faced with reality, Draco finally understands his whole life, his whole system of “right and wrong,” is not correct. He was just a manipulated boy. Rowling is adamant that Malfoy didn't deserve a redemption arc because there was never a “heart of gold” underneath his pompous act.
The Weasleys descend from Cedrella Black, a granddaughter of Phineas Nigellus Black. Sirius Black, Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy all descend from Pollux Black (left). Note: This family tree excerpt (made using Ancestry.com) does not list the Weasley children in the correct age order.
Hermione Malfoy (née Granger) is the daughter of Mr Granger and Mrs Granger, wife of Draco Malfoy, Daughter-in-law of Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Malfoy (née Black), Mother of Hyperion, Hyperion II, Scorpius, sister-in-law of Miss Malfoy and friend of Harry Potter.
Arriving during the Norman conquest, Armand Malfoy was the first Malfoy in Britain. He was awarded acres of land where Malfoy Manor was built. For generations the Malfoy family annexed the land owned by neighbouring Muggles and invested heavily in Muggle currency and assets as their fortune grew.
Isaacs brings up Lucius' disheveled appearance in Deathly Hallows, raising the possibility that the Malfoy patriarch had begun drinking too much. The way Isaacs saw it, Lucius was in a no-win situation. Given everything he'd done, the man no longer had a place on either side of the war.
Snape has a longstanding friendship with Lucius Malfoy, Draco's father. The Malfoy family played a significant role in Snape's early life, providing him with a sense of belonging and support. This connection to the family adds a layer of personal obligation and loyalty to his decision to protect Draco.
