A rash under your breast or breasts, between the folds of skin, is usually caused by a benign (not cancer) skin condition called intertrigo. It is a very common condition that can occur throughout life. You may hear it called candida intertrigo.
Breast rashes can affect the area under your breasts, between your breasts or on the skin around your nipple. There can be many potential causes of breast rash. While most rashes on your breast happen due to bug bites, allergic reactions, irritants or infection, some breast rashes are a sign of breast cancer.
Rashes that develop under the breast often result from skin irritation or allergic reactions. However, rashes on the chest region can also stem from infections such as shingles, cellulitis, measles, chickenpox, and scarlet fever. Some other possible causes include psoriasis, eczema, and heat rash.
“All the dead skin cells, oils and sweat trapped under your bra make for a cesspool of bacteria and yeast,” Dr. Vij explains. “Not washing frequently enough can lead to stains and persistent odors on the bra — as well as skin irritation, rashes or local skin infections from yeast or bacteria.”
A yeast infection under your breasts looks like a bright red rash. The rash will appear under your breasts and at the top of your torso where your breast skin touches your chest. The breast rash may be: Raised, swollen or tender.
Or, there's redness or some other type of discoloration of one breast. The rash associated with inflammatory breast cancer can also vary in appearance based on someone's skin tone. It may look dark or even purple on some women, rather than red. But there's not a defining skin change that's the same for everybody.
Rashes that last for a few hours or days in adults usually aren't anything to worry about. However, prompt medical attention is needed if a rash is accompanied by fever, difficulty breathing, pain, blistering, bruising, or swelling.
Intertrigo is a common and treatable skin condition that can lead to an infection. It often happens in skin folds where your skin rubs together. The friction causes inflammation that looks like a red, bumpy rash.
A heat rash looks like: A group of small red bumps (1 to 2 millimeters), similar to tiny pimples or blisters. The skin beneath the bumps is flesh-colored or red to purple.
You might see a rash that looks like red spots on your breast. On some skin tones, it can look dark or purple. But in some cases, you might just notice that the pores on the skin of your breasts look larger due to swelling. Or you might see redness or discoloration.
What are symptoms of a fungal rash? A fungal rash is often red and itches or burns. You may have red, swollen bumps like pimples or scaly, flaky patches.
A heat rash can pop up when the sweat ducts beneath your breasts are blocked, trapping in perspiration. The result is clear, fluid-filled blisters and bumps; itchy, prickling red bumps; or goose bump–like areas on your skin.
What do stress rashes look like? Stress rashes often appear as raised red bumps called hives. They can affect any part of the body, but often a stress rash is on the face, neck, chest or arms. Hives may range from tiny dots to large welts and may form in clusters.
If you avoid the substance causing the reaction, the rash often clears up in 2 to 4 weeks. You can try soothing your skin with a cool, wet cloth and other self-care steps.
As the cancer progresses, an indentation may form in the center of the lesion, where it may begin to ooze or bleed. Initially, a rash caused by basal cell carcinoma may resemble dermatitis, psoriasis or eczema. However, unlike a noncancerous skin rash, a cancerous skin rash will usually not resolve on its own.
Mycosis fungoides is the most common type of cutaneous T cell lymphoma. In mycosis fungoides, immune system cells in the skin become cancerous and create itchy skin changes that can mimic psoriasis or eczema. This rash can spread and get worse over time.
Signs of nipple and breast thrush

Fungal infections: A yeast called Candida albicans causes most fungal infections in people with diabetes. You'll have moist areas of tiny red blisters or scales that itch. Skin fungus tends to affect skin folds, including under the breast, between fingers and toes, around nailbeds, and in the armpits and groin.
